Demand Planner
The position
We are looking for an experienced Demand Planner to join us at our Royston VTS site. The Demand Planner is responsible for the development of capacity plans in line with annual operating objectives, and the analysis of sales forecasts and previous consumption, to position us to deliver in line with customer requirement. This position requires a strategic thinker who can lead SIOP, demand forecasting, inventory management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive the success of our organization.
Primary responsibilities
SIOP Lead:
Lead the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, and financial planning.
Develop and maintain a collaborative SIOP framework that promotes effective communication and decision-making across departments.
Generate and maintain comprehensive capacity plans.
Optimize production capacities in coordination with the operations team, ensuring that resources are efficiently utilized while meeting customer demand and maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Proactively identify potential risks in the supply chain that may impact the balance between supply and demand. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure continuity and resilience.
Demand Forecasting:
Utilize historical data and collaborate with sales and marketing teams to incorporate market intelligence into demand planning processes to create accurate demand forecasts.
Collaborate closely with procurement and operations teams to drive optimal inventory levels, enabling better planning and reduction of overall product lead times.
Inventory Management:
Implement measures to enhance inventory turnover rates, balancing the need for product availability with the goal of minimizing excess stock.
Review and optimize safety stock levels, ensuring buffer stock is strategically placed to mitigate any unforeseen fluctuations in demand or supply.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Develop strong partnerships with sales, marketing, finance, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of plans.
Communicate regularly with key stakeholders to share insights, address issues, and align on operational goals.
Performance Analysis:
Monitor, analyze and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to demand planning and SIOP processes.
Continuous improvement and development of the SIOP process including lessons learned after every cycle.
Professional qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS) is a plus. Proven experience in demand planning, SIOP, or a related planning role. Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP).
Personal skills
Strategic thinking and the ability to translate high-level business goals into actionable plans. Strong analytic skills and able to clearly identify problems and implement sustainable improvement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions. Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity. High level of growth mindset and ownership.
