To find out more watch our video.This opportunity sits in Supply Chain Operations (SCO), a division of Route Services that procures safe, sustainable, products and services that are in turn used to improve and enhance the rail infrastructure across Britain. SCO aims to deliver excellent value and service to our customers, helping the rail industry to work together to deliver a more cost-effective railway.Our extensive supply chain network plays a crucial role in helping to run a safe and efficient railway.Every year we:• Buy and deliver 2,000km of rail and 2.5 million tonnes of ballast.Behind the scenes we:• Process £7,000,000,000 of payments.Every year:• Mechanical and electrical locking fitters maintain 468 signal boxes and 387 ground frames.• Operational property helpdesk process over 200,000 callsMain ResponsibilityAs Delivery Director you will work within a geographic region, to direct a team to achieve the safe, sustainable and efficient planning and delivery of heavy resources and network services.You will direct accountability for a contract spend of approx £50m and responsibility for delivering approx £125m of plant and materials procured under other supply chain contracts (e.g. materials and plant).Direct the management of safety within the region and act as a role model in the promotion of safety and environmental excellence across all areas of control.Develop and maintain effective relationships with other functions and stakeholders.Inspire excellence in the quality of service provided to Route Services customers and work deliverer partners.Achieve safety, financial, performance and customer satisfaction targets agreed with the Director, Supply Chain Services. Monitor business performance through periodic reviews.Direct the regional team to achieve business / functional objectives and meet key performance measures.Manage suppliers of possession train, OTM, seasonal services to achieve targets.Operational ownership of designated LDC assets.Create a culture within the area to enable customer and frontline employee feedback to be reflected in policies and procedures to deliver continuous performance improvement.Manage the development and implementation of safety, planning and delivery performance, customer and work deliverer partner satisfaction, and efficiency improvement initiatives.Provide input to business plans, policies, standards and strategies.Enhance safety culture and drive safety improvements across the delivery and operational processes and manage the effective identification and management of all risks associated with area activities.Comply with policies, procedures and standards and direct the effective management of contracts.Model and promote Network Rail values, behaviours and attitudesThe Ideal CandidateWill have experience in the following:Expertise in operational management in a safety critical industryConsiderable Supply Chain Services operational planning and delivery experienceProven track record of customer and work deliverer partner relationship managementExperience of managing complex delivery organisationsExperience of managing business unit financialsKnowledge of health and safety management and compliance management processesIn-depth understanding of the railway industry and its needs and interfacesUnderstanding of NR safety management systemKnowledge of relevant standards and proceduresPackage DescriptionVacancy Ref: IRC2282445This role is being advertised internally only and externallyThe position is based in Milton Keynes.Hours: up to 35 hours per week with hybrid working and travel as required.Salary range: £97,850 to £110,81 per annum depending on skills and experienceAt Network Rail you will have a clear development path, access to training and enjoy a range of employee benefits, such as; up to 28 days annual leave, rail subsidies, a range of pension options, flexible and agile working arrangements, discounts on shopping, gym memberships and much more.Closing date: 17 May 2024 - Late applicants will not be considered.Click ‘apply for this job’ to apply.
