An excellent opportunity has become available for a Disclosure Risk Assessor within the DBS/Disclosure Team of the Information Security and Governance Department.
The main purpose of the role is to process and assess Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) applications.
This will involve accessing the Police National Computer, Athena and other local computer systems and making decisions on whether disclosure of relevant information is to be recommended.
Therefore, experience of operating these systems and effective decision making skills are essential.
Experience of processing DBS checks using the Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) would be an advantage.
You will also be required to assess information for potential disclosure to employers and/or regulatory/licensing bodies under Common Law Police Disclosure powers. An ability to demonstrate sound judgement in analysing and interpreting complex information is required and there is also an element of training and mentoring new staff and auditing their work and providing advice to colleagues both internal to the team and force-wide.
Therefore, you will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
You will be a self-motivated individual with strong organisational skills in order to manage a high workload with minimum supervision.
Due to on-going development in working practices, you will need to be flexible and able to adapt to change. Good IT skills in Microsoft Office products, are essential as you will be expected to update and maintain documents.
You will also have an ability to produce high quality disclosure texts, requiring a good use of English language. The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a designated 'Team Zone' location on average one or two days a week, as agreed with the line manager. Currently the designated Team Zone for this role will be located at Maidstone Police Station.
