Job Description
Are you an experienced IT Support Analyst ?
Do you have a sold understanding of databases ?
Are you highly analytical with excellent attention to detail ?
If so I have a really interesting role with my client who is a leading Fintech business in the Investment management industry.
You will be based from their office in the city centre of Edinburgh however they offer very flexible hybrid working.
In this role you will be providing 1st line support for their database platforms however there is career progression that could see you becoming a fully fledged Database Administrator.
This role could also suit a Junior DBA who wants to work in a fast paced role where your skills will grow quickly.
Responsibilities include:
proactive monitoring of the database estate health & performance
as first level support for general database platform troubleshooting
Assist with:
vendor and development supplied scripts
creation of new databases
configuration of database resilience and backup strategies
configuration of database maintenance solutions
automation of non-automated database support activities
data refresh requests
data load requests
general database administration requests
non BAU project related support activities
Skills should include:
Solid experience in a technical support background
Some experience of Database backup & recovery
Exposure to RDBMS ideally MSSQL or Oracle
Basic experience of SQL scripting
Basic experience of server architecture and virtualization
Exposure to database management tools e.g. SQLPLUS, MSSQL Management Studio, Oracle PL/SQL Developer etc
You should have at least a basic understanding of the role of a Database Administrator.
