We are looking for an experienced Data & Systems Director with a proven track record building and leading both internal and external IT systems such as data warehouses, ERP transformation, internal IT and supporting the security and operation of cloud infrastructure to join The National College team, you will play a crucial role in providing services both for internal teams and educators on the learning platform.
As Data & Systems Director you will be responsible for the rollout and management of new internal systems across teams, ownership of data systems, data integrity, security and compliance, ensuring availability of external facing infrastructure, and overall information security and general IT support for internal users.
Requirements
Demonstrable experience leading data and IT systems, including transformation, project management, process definition, security, data privacy and operation of systems
A passion for technology and ensuring high quality and reliable solutions that delight users and stakeholders
Experience building executable roadmaps and strategies for best practice implementation of change
Previous experience with common internal technology platforms such as HubSpot, SalesForce, Financial Force
Expertise at enabling company wide data processes, including the correct handling of customer data following GDPR regulations and best practices
Strong technical skills including infrastructure, networking and security, with experience in both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services
Previous background with data engineering such as reporting, analytics and data warehousing
Experience ensuring cloud best practices and operational efficiency of cloud deployed products
Experience setting and maintain IT business processes across the business and managing IT budgets including subscriptions and capex spend
Experience both with internal IT and cloud platform operations
Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, or specific domain certifications from appropriate providers
At least 5 years experience in an IT leadership role, ideally growing from a small team
Flexible and able to work in a highly collaborative fast-paced culture
A great written and verbal communicator that can work across cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders at all levels
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning: Build and implement a roadmap for IT that supports the overall technology and business strategy and action continuous improvement of IT
Internal Infrastructure Management: Manage with the support of the IT Manager all aspects of internal IT including hardware, infrastructure and user support
Internal Systems Management: installation, management and maintenance of internal systems, including ERP, HR, CRM for go to market teams
Acquisition IT Integration: Integration of acquired businesses from an IT infrastructure perspective
Product Infrastructure Management: Ensure well architected and resilient solutions for external products and robust backup and recovery approaches alongside development and product teams
Cyber Security: Implement information security tools and processes to ensure the security of company data, systems and networks, and own the security stance of the company in terms of both ensuring compliance with regulations and helping sales teams with highlighting our credentials in this sphere to support sales efforts
Data Compliance: Own data protection controls across all teams for both internal users and customer data, including GDPR compliance, DPIA responses, and other relevant global data protection compliances
Data Engineering: Responsibility for the operation, security and availability of data pipelines and data warehouse alongside the data engineer and business intelligence team
Budget Management: Plan and forecast both recurring and one-off costs for IT operational and capex investments, and needed resources to implement the agreed strategic plans
Project Management: Lead IT transformation and company integration projects from inception to completion
IT Processes: Create, own and test BCP, DRP, AUP, IT Certification and other relevant processes
Leadership: Lead and mentor members of the IT and systems team, including training and management, whilst communicating effectively with other stakeholders within the business
IT Innovation: provide capacity and input to enable both personal and team innovation, staying up to date on emerging technologies and best practices
