About the role:
We are looking for a Data Scientist/Engineer to join our team at Twenty3, specifically working as part of our Backend Python team. Our team is self-sufficient and multi-disciplinary, and the successful candidate will get an exciting opportunity to work across the entire software development lifecycle of our Football Data SaaS platform, as well as other standalone projects for customers. We are looking for a strong candidate who can eventually contribute across our entire tech stack, and who is willing and excited to learn about the parts they currently have less or no experience in. We are committed to provide the training and learning opportunities to a candidate who can demonstrate appropriate foundational capabilities.
The different aspects which this role would expose you to are:
Create and operationalise innovative applications for stakeholders such as media or professional football clubs using football data (statistical, event and tracking data).
Design, build and maintain APIs that power the UI of our SaaS platform.
Integrate with APIs of our data providers to import and process their data as needed into our systems.
Be responsible for the storage and warehousing of our data in AWS S3, RDS and Redshift.
Be responsible and responsive to the operability and health of our application.
Maintenance of our CI/CD pipelines.
Maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure in AWS, provisioned via Cloudformation and Serverless Framework (Infrastructure as Code).
Maintenance of our testing and local development environments.
Collaborate with your peers in maintaining our code base via pull request reviews, advocating for the maintainability, durability and scalability of our code base.
Requirements:
Experience working professionally with Python.
Experience in other languages will be considered under the right circumstances.
Experience working with a version control system such as Git in collaborative, peer-reviewed environments.
Must be comfortable, numerate and literate working with data, and understand some of the constituent parts of such work: storage, relational databases, SQL, ETL pipelines, data analysis, etc.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to contribute work in a self-sufficient manner.
A good understanding and passion for football as a sport.
In addition to the requirements above, the successful candidate will stand out by possessing a subset of the below skills and capabilities:
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, particularly the AWS suite.
Please email your CV and cover letter to ##### explaining why you think you are right for this role. Closing date for applications is 30 April 2024, early applications are welcome as we will look to arrange interviews at the soonest opportunity.
