Job DescriptionJob Role: Data Privacy & Compliance Officer Location: Hybrid - home based with regular attendance at our Birmingham officeSalary: £30,000 to 35,000 per annum Job Sector: Corporate LegalHours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pmAs a Data Privacy & Compliance Officer you will be you will contribute to our vision of being the UK’s favourite property manager by implementing and maintaining our Data Protection, privacy and compliance framework.The role of Data Privacy & Compliance Officer sits within the Legal & Business Conduct team, reporting to the Head of Data Privacy & Compliance.Main ResponsibilitiesBe the first point of contact for all compliance and data protection enquiries.To monitor and report on initiatives, issues, trends via RAG and status reports to the Head of Data Privacy & Compliance as required.To support Emeria’s legal and industry compliance-related activities and initiatives including (but not limited to) compliance with data protection, anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, and whistleblowing.Draft and roll out corporate governance policies, procedures, frameworks and training.To maintain and monitor compliance registers, ensuring that accurate and timely information is recorded.To assist in investigating breaches of policy/law and to facilitate the progression of any remedial actions required.To ensure that data protection and compliance processes are followed and tracked.Monitor and action all data subject rights requests within the regulatory guidelines.Investigate data breaches and conduct Data Privacy Impact Assessments.Deliver training and guidance on data protection and compliance in order to drive an organisational understanding of and adherence to the business conduct data protection and compliance processes and standards.Areas of Responsibility/AccountabilityTo continue the roll out of workstreams to meet our GDPR road map, including our GDPR gap analysis.To undertake specific project implementation tasks as and when necessary in order to support change projects.Ensure awareness and communication is established within the business with regards to compliance, data protection and security, travelling to Emeria offices or external sites where required.Assist the Head of Information Security where appropriate with security breaches.Assess Anti Money Laundering review requests.Key InterfacesInternal departments and key executivesExternal businesses and organisations, in particular key customers and clientsMediaKey influencers (internal and external)ExperienceAt least three years’ experience working in a legal, data protection or compliance role.Experience working in a company that has a complex organisational structure.Experience in privacy management.A good understanding of data protection regulations and compliance requirements for a business is essential.Knowledge of Regulatory authorities, legislation / regulations of Data Protection, Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.An understanding of the property management sector would be an advantage.A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Knowledge of Sharepoint would be beneficial.A UK driving licence is essential for travel.Effective communication skills.Flexible approach to work.The ability to work under pressure.The ability to work under your own initiative.The ability to work to a deadline.Excellent attention to detail.Any compliance related qualifications will be viewed favourably.Technical Skills (If appropriate)Ability to influence and inspire senior stakeholders and the wider business.Excellent organisational skills, ability to deal with a high volume of work at pace.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to extract information in a tactful manner.Project management skills advantageous but not essential.What’s next?To start your application for this role we will ask you to upload your CV and answer a few questions.Our recruiters will work with our managers to review your CV.
