The Role
I am looking for a talented Data Portfolio Manager to help deliver my client's data strategy and objectives whilst overseeing the management of our data project portfolio across my client's business. Sitting in the Group Data function, this role has a global remit to support our data initiatives and adoption, co-ordinating with my client's teams across the world. Responsibilities include managing the Portfolio budget, helping to optimise delivery resources and execution of the Group Data’s strategic initiatives. To be successful in the role will require balancing a strategic outlook with changing business demand, through a consultative and collaborative approach, positively reacting to change.
Key Responsibilities
Co-ordinate the planning and execution in the project portfolio to meet business needs
Maintain and manage the delivery roadmap
Facilitate delivery of data-related initiatives, optimising for the best outcome
Understand critical path activities, dependencies, risks, and mitigations across the portfolio
Manage the agile project management team, interfacing with in-house developers and third-party suppliers
Own the implementation of the governance model
Facilitate effective stakeholder engagement
Manage business review processes and
Track and manage portfolio budget
Help ensure that objectives and outcomes are achieved by tracking and taking action where appropriate
Skills and Attributes
Strong experience as a Data Portfolio Manager or in a similar role
Demonstrable experience of large scale Data Portfolio or Programme development and delivery
Extensive experience managing and coaching diverse teams to deliver business outcomes
Effective Budget management and associated reporting & monitoring experience required
Understanding of the Insurance industry
Knowledge and experience of delivery in an Agile environment
Demonstrable leadership in achieving shared objectives in a matrix organization, managing cross-divisional initiatives, and cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
Results-orientation with the proven ability and reputation for developing plans and implementing them successfully
Ability to develop, articulate, and build support around a long-term strategy and implement incremental milestones in support of that strategy
Strong team and vendor management experience
Advantageous:
Understanding of London Market operations (Lloyd’s, IUA, LPSO, LPC etc)
Understanding general and legal principles of insurance (e.g. Law of Agency)
Awareness of the regulatory environment and requirements including e.g. FCA rules, data protection, money laundering, specific standards of insureds’ professional bodies
Skilled at delivering highly complex solutions in the insurance/tech sphere
