We are searching for a dedicated Data Centre Engineer to undertake a vital role within this pioneering organisation. The selected candidate will be instrumental in enhancing the company's network infrastructure, ensuring its smooth and secure operation. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including the exploration of new technologies, the design and upkeep of network infrastructure, and the execution of robust disaster recovery strategies. The Data Centre Engineer will offer round-the-clock on-call support, manage network equipment maintenance, and oversee vendor and warranty liaisons.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing continuous on-call support to address and rectify network disruptions promptly.
Overseeing the maintenance of network equipment, which entails installing new equipment and replacing defective components in various settings.
Crafting, implementing, documenting, and evaluating disaster recovery protocols and processes to safeguard the network infrastructure.
Managing backup and recovery processes for the network infrastructure, ensuring the integrity and security of data.
Conducting critical update patch management to maintain security.
Collaborating with support centre personnel to troubleshoot network infrastructure issues.
Proactively monitoring the network to identify potential outages, service degradations, or security vulnerabilities, and initiating corrective measures.
Developing, maintaining, and adhering to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically analysing network data.
Designing and maintaining network infrastructure to fulfil SLA requirements, including firewall infrastructure for both internal and remote applications.
Establishing and maintaining a network management platform for proactive oversight and management of the network infrastructure.
Ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of LANs, WANs, wireless connectivity, internet access, and network security.
Preparing accurate documentation for network installations, including data, voice, and video systems.
Aiding in the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, remaining abreast of the plan and responding to network emergencies in accordance with these plans.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Proven knowledge in Data installations and terminations.
Experience in fibre and copper cabling (beneficial but not essential).
A solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with clients and team members.
Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise tasks efficiently.
The capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
A valid driving licence.
