An organisation in North Yorkshire is currently seeking an experienced Senior Customs Control Specialist to join their Supply Chain Team.

This pivotal role involves ensuring compliance with HMRC and other regulatory bodies, managing legal aspects of customs clearance, and contributing to the efficiency of transportation processes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Budget planning and tracking in the assigned area.
  • Managing, processing, and completing all legal aspects of customs clearance and transportation.
  • Updating customs tariff numbers in the ERP system. (SAP)
  • Conducting preference calculations for materials in the system.
  • Updating long-term service agreements for customers and suppliers.
  • Serving as the primary contact for service providers and customs agents.
  • Monitoring, checking, and tracking certificates of origin from suppliers.
  • Handling customs papers and clearance in accordance with legal regulations.
  • Training the Logistics team on compliance with customs controls.
  • Leading the implementation of tax reduction strategies.
  • Initiating and executing projects to achieve company targets and cost reduction.

Your Credentials:

  • Previous experience in a similar customs compliance role.
  • Thorough knowledge of current customs procedures and processes (import & export).
  • Familiarity with international transportation/logistics in Export Air, Sea, Road, and import operations.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in developing work procedures and written instructions.
  • Strong MS Excel skills and proficiency in Word, Teams, and Outlook.

Additional Information:

  • Full-time position, Monday-Friday. (Mon to Thurs 08.00 - 16.30 and Fri finish at 13.00)
  • The position offers a salary of �40,000.
