Our Client, a large food manufacturer, are looking for a highly skilled & experienced Customer Demand Planning Manager to build accurate forecast models & strong relationships to drive efficiencies & customer service in their business.SCOPE OF THE JOBTo ensure that our organization meets future demand, delivering a customer service level of 99.5% & to continue operating as efficiently and effectively as possibleTo develop effective forecast models based on customer trends and demand patternsBuild strong relationships with our key customers to build trust in us as a lead supplier and be able to influence their decision making around supply chain issuesTo support management with risk assessments and mitigation activitiesTo propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracyJOB ROLEDevelop & manage forecast models to build strong/accurate 24 week forward forecast, and use historical data and trends taking account of seasonality & promo’s as well.Real time tracking of orders v’s forecastWork with planners to identify short term issues and follow through on solutionsDevelop the capacity models to support the forecast for our supplying sites and the customer.Liaise with commercial and make sure all newness & promos are built into the forecastWork with operations team to identify medium to long term demand constraintsSupport availability planning, costings and associated ingredients and packaging from the demand forecastWork with planning teams across supplying sites and retail packing and commercial team to address demand exceptions +/-Have daily contact with key customers on all supply chain related issuesWork with the customer to build and agree a 24 week forecast with them, continually monitor and update with themAdvise customer on their order accuracy and continually work with them to improve upon thisWork to secure the service level of 99.5% at all times, defend and communicate where there are issuesIf issues are own goals flag internally immediately and seek clarification on the resolutionWork with customers to manage overs and shorts on a daily basisWork with customer to move excess stock when required to reduce downgrade costsAll activity should work towards protecting the business 99.5% service levelBuild a strong relationship with the customer to manage service & drive continual improvementReview customer issues where they need to drive change in what they are doing e.g high waste on a certain line in a certain store rangeWork with customer to manage range changes and ensure they happen to our advantageDevelop and manage supply kpi’s, and communicate weekly – internally and externally. Ensure what the customer is reporting is accurateWork with the site finance team to identify the financial impact of demand changesTrack the demand plan versus budget and communicate the changes to the relevant management teamOngoing Project WorkOngoing project work will also be part of the job role to deliver real transformational change throughout the business in key areas.The first project would be best around ensuring retail has a best in class fit for purpose entire planning process from the customer forecast, retail planning process to the primal planning process the complete supply chainReview current planning process in the business internally in retail and between retail and primal & retail and the customerGive an objective overall assessment of the system and then create an action plan on how we could improve the overall process to drive accuracy, speed, communication & reduce costs.REQUIREMENTSMust be educated to at least A Level or equivalent, with GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English at Grade C or aboveProven work experience as a Forward Demand Planner or a similar roleIdeally an understanding of meat, this would be a huge advantage in the role.Good computer skills and strong knowledge of ExcelAnalyticalStrong data mining skills (advanced level in excel)Strong individualAbility to forward plan and liaise / manage significant stock levelsPrevious relevant experience essentialStrong communication skills essentialAbility to demonstrate good problem solving and decision making skillsGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenMethodical structured approach to work and able to work to tight timescalesFluent in English language is essentialFlexible and proactive approach to work loadAble to work on own initiative, as part of a team and with other teamsThe role will require some travel to our supplying sites and on occasion to the customer.For more information on this exciting role please get in touch or apply with your CV today.
