An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Radiology Directorate at EastLancashire Hospitals NHS Trust for an experienced and knowledgeable individual with expertise in CT scanning, to provide a high-quality imaging service, developing staff and supporting the day to day running of the department. East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust offers Cross-Sectional imaging (CSI) services across 3 sites (2 acute and 1 out of 5 community sites). The CT Clinical Lead Radiographer (Operational) will deputise Cross-Sectional imaging manager in day to day running of the department.Main duties of the jobTo be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Cross-Sectional Imaging department for the base site and associated peripheral sites working alongside with Cross-Sectional Imaging manager, MRI Clinical lead radiographer and CT clinical leads in the department. To work as a senior member of the CSI team, independently providing an efficient and high-quality imaging service, whilst dealing with patients in a caring professional manner. To lead and assist a range of radiographers, students and assistant staff in both the delivery of the service and their individual development needs. To support the CSI manager to deliver an efficient and responsive cross-sectional imaging service. Assist with the management of the workflow and waiting times within the department with to support meeting internal and wider hospital targets The CT Clinical Lead Radiographer (Operational) will take a lead role in the departments QA Programme ensuring high standards of image quality are maintained and that all QC testing is performed regularly and accurately documented. To assist the Cross-Sectional Imaging manager in managing the Cross-Sectional Imaging service with regards to efficient use of resources, quality, and safety. Display evidence of good anatomical, physiological and pathological knowledge to assist in the clinical justification of Radiography referrals in line with both national regulations IR(ME)R 2017 (Ionising Regulations (Medical Exposure) Regulations) and local protocols. To act as an operator under IR(ME)R 2017. To implement the requirements of all radiation legislation for the Cross-sectional Imaging services at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. To review, develop, modify and comment on continuing appropriateness of imaging protocols. To develop new techniques and protocols in line with technical developments and to ensure that all radiographers within the area are trained accordingly. Maintenance of Departmental Records. To liaise with other departments/wards within the hospital and various external sources in order to provide a quality service to patients and clinicians, resolving issues wherever possible at a local level. To support the development of the Cross-sectional Imaging Service keeping abreast of any changes in working procedures, making recommendation when necessary. To assist Cross-Sectional Imaging manager to manage and monitor daily activity within the speciality including waiting and reporting times. To monitor and report equipment faults and to determine the severity of a problem and its probable impact on the workload. To make a balanced judgement on when to call in a service engineer, taking into account the effect on the normal running of the department. To liaise with equipment suppliers regarding the attendance of an engineer at a suitable time in the event of a minor faults or immediately in the event of a total equipment failure. Ensure continuing familiarisation with the current QA measure in place within the department. To support the CSI manager in the investigation of complains and incidents, providing a response within the agreed timescales Take responsibility for decisions undertaken when using own initiative whenever the situation demands e.g. referral to the safeguarding team if applicable. To be able to produce and be responsible in the organisation of the weekly rotas (e-roster) for trained staff within Cross-Sectional Imaging department. To organise the out of hours rota ensuring fairness and compliance of all relevant staff. To ensure that regular staff meetings for the Cross-Sectional imaging department take place so that staff are kept informed and are able to contribute to the management of the department. To conduct return to work and sickness absences interviews when required, highlighting areas for improvement to the Cross-Sectional Imaging Manager. To deputise for the Cross-Sectional Imaging Manager when required, attending any meetings, and undertaking duties as appropriate to the role level.

ExperienceEssential
Experience of an extensive range of CT and/or MRI procedures. Substantial experience as a Senior Radiographer, experience of leading an area, supervising juniors.

Essential to complete formal qualification in I.V. Injections Ability to demonstrate planning, time management, organisational skills and the ability to complete a task. Demonstrate effective leadership skills.

Up to date knowledge of current issues/new techniques/developments in CT/MRI A good knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology and CT/MRI scanning protocols. IR(ME)R Knowledge of Health and Safety / MRI Safety
