Position summary:
We are seeking a Market Fundamental Analyst to join our Crude Oil trading desk in our London office.Embedded within our trading teams our Market Fundamental Analysts are responsible for maintaining a forward-looking commodity market outlook, using data, tools and models, and communicating this view clearly and concisely to drive decision-making and identify new trade ideas to grow trading earnings.We are looking for an individual who is highly-motivated, a team player, enjoys the challenge of finding commercial value from disparate sources of data; an effective communicator with an eye for innovation, a curiosity around data, and an appetite for continuous process and personal improvement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing & communicating your short-term (0-12 months) view of the crude oil market through:
maintaining
your live forward-looking data-driven
global supply and demand balance , using diverse sources of internal and third-party data. building, backtesting and continuously improving data-driven models.
effectively communicating detailed market analysis to local and global teams.
working collaboratively
with traders and other analysts across our offices to maintain an aligned global market view, and the
impact on crude oil markets/pricing.
Contributing both physical and financial trade ideas in line with the team’s view of crude oil and freight markets to grow trading earnings.
Developing a network of external market contacts to enhance market intelligence.
Requirements for the role Experience of using statistical methods and modelling skills in a commercial setting - to identify trends, patterns, probabilities, build models, etc. to drive insights and decision-making.
Able to communicate detailed analysis into a data story with a view of market/price action.
Highly proficient in Excel / Power Query, visualisation tools (Power BI preferred). Coding skills are beneficial (python, SQL).
Ability to work in a diverse, high-pressure and fast-paced environment with very short deadlines.
Highly engaging team player.
Previous experience analysing commodity or freight market fundamentals
advantageous.Technical and commercial knowledge of refining and refinery process advantageous.Experience with LP models advantageous. Relocation Options: Relocation
will not be
