We have a fantastic opportunity for a solution-focused person with project management experience to join us at the British Red Cross. The Crisis Response & Community Resilience (CRCR) team aids people in the space between hospital and home. We respond to the needs of people in need following a crisis. We maintain an extensive network of external connections across health, social care, and crisis services.
A day in the life of a Crisis Response Officer will involve:
Working with the CRCR teams in the delivery of efficient, effective, and successful crisis planning, response and recovery function across the UK.
Supporting area teams to implement national emergency planning and response services, policies and procedures. Providing hands on support and technical expertise to teams during a period of surge activity.
Developing intimate knowledge of service delivery, working with area teams to ensure challenges, learning and good-practice are shared and that efforts are coordinated as required in the context of cross-area / national initiatives and partnerships are key elements of the role.
Working collaboratively with the product team and internal stakeholders to ensure the initiatives are developed and effectively embedded within Crisis Response, as well as implementing any lessons learned.
Leading on the Community Reserve Volunteer project, the Crisis Response Officer will support the continued improvement of the project, collaborating with internal stakeholders with a focus on the development of Community Reserve Volunteers.
Please Note: The post requires evening and some weekend work, being part of a regular 24-hour duty officer on-call rota and potential crisis response duties at any time throughout the year.
To be a successful Crisis Response Officer, You’ll need:
Experience in project management
Understanding of Health and Safety in relation to staff / volunteers working with vulnerable people within high risk communities
Knowledge of local organisations and statutory services
Working in multi-agency partnerships
Able to respond to emergency situations with on call duty as required
Experience of leading & motivating volunteers
Able to work and travel extensively throughout the county, area and UK if required
