Criminal Justice Recovery WorkerBand 5Job overviewAre you committed to making a positive change and empowering service users to achieve a better quality of life? Do you have an interest in tackling complex or challenging cases, whilst supporting people to reduce drug related harm and offending?We are currently recruiting for an experienced worker to join our criminal justice team within the Hampshire drug and alcohol treatment service. This post is aimed at providing assessment and support for people who are part of the criminal justice system, who also experience difficulties associated with drug use.The team aims to work collaboratively to reduce the risk of drug related harm, drug related offending and drug related deaths.The successful candidate will be required to work across one of two areas; South Hampshire (Havant, Fareham and Gosport) or West Hampshire (New Forest, Winchester and Eastleigh). Travel across the whole of Hampshire will occasionally be required in order to support service provision, therefore the ability and a willingness to travel is essential.Main duties of the jobFull Time Criminal Justice Recovery Worker post, for a period of 12 months.Working with people who use drugs in order to reduce harm.Overdose awareness and prevention.1-1 Recovery sessions using evidence based interventions.Group facilitation.Working with partner agencies.Working as part of a multidisciplinary team.Conducting needs assessments and care planning.Assess risk and establish risk management plans.Take responsibility for safeguarding children and adults.Working with people on DRRs.Working with people who are subject to MAPPAMaking onward referrals as necessary.Support with drug testing on arrest.In-reach into prison and police custody.What we offer:Regular supervision.25 days of annual leave, risking to 29 or 33 based on years of continuous service.Access to internal and external training courses.Working for our organisation Inclusion, created in 2002 is part of the Specialist Services Care Group of Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT). Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesPlease see the Job Description and Person Specification for further details, a summary is below:• To accept referrals from other agencies for those engaged with the criminal justice system, assess need and make appropriate recommendations as part as a robust ‘duty system’.• To provide in-reach to a range of criminal justice settings to engage offenders in drug treatment this includes custody centres, prisons, courts and probation offices• Provide interventions with an emphasis on health and wellbeing and interventions aimed at reducing drug use and associated criminal behaviour• Provide harm reduction advice, information and support with an emphasis on safer drug use, safer sex, HIV, Hepatitis A,B and C and other blood borne infections • To assist and support medical and nurse prescribers during harm reduction and prescribing clinics.• To provide a range of structured psycho-social interventions including CBT based brief solution focused therapy and motivational enhancement techniques, with a view to improving health and wellbeing and reducing drug use and associated crime• Make domiciliary visits to service users particularly for those with disabilities and to those with family responsibilities.• To create and facilitate group work interventions for criminal justice clients• To provide a needle exchange service and naloxone.• Carryout needle exchanges, home visits and the running of clinics.Person specificationExperienceExperience of working in the drug and alcohol fieldExperience of working in the criminal justice field or with people involved with the criminal justice systemQualificationsQualification in related field which may include counselling, social work, nursing, psychology, social studiesRelevant training / Qualification in associated field, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Brief solution focussed therapy, Mapping techniques (ITEP/BTEI)Employer certification / accreditation badgesThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
