Overview:
First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business who are looking to recruit a Course Designer (Military Weapons) on a permanent basis due to growth to be based overseas in Lyneham.
As a Course Designer you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You'll join a team of talented training professionals with various technical backgrounds, including Communications, Radar, Control Systems, Automotive and Metalsmiths , who design, develop and support courses. The team prides itself on delivering training using modern techniques and the latest learning technologies; classroom-based training and practical training in an outside ‘exercise – type’ environment. All training activities are focused around a new e-learning system with an associated Virtual Learning Environment to enable all trainees access to any necessary teaching material 24-hours a day.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of Armaments Courses, whether for simple rifles and pistols or compex heavy weapons like the 155mm weapon system on the AS90 tracked artillery vehicle, or the 120mm weapons system on the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank. You'll also be required to work on the weapon training that underpins the academic and management courses at the REME Arms School.
Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Design and develop training courses from Training Objectives (TOs) produced by the client
  • Produce controlled Course Training Package (CTP) documents for both equipment and career courses primarily in the armaments/weapons discipline
  • Review existing training materials in order to work towards course design improvements and efficiencies
  • Produce and evaluate précis, examinations and assessment packages
  • Deliver pilot courses with instructors (where necessary)
  • Review suitability of e-learning


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Ability to research new subjects, design and develop new materials for précis, assessments and projects
  • Carry out personal development to keep abreast of changes in technology
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • An Instructional qualification, backed up by experience in a similar role.
