Cost Engineer – Consultancy – Surrey – up to £70,000

Role Overview:

As a key player in this outstanding project team, you'll craft detailed program plans, establish baseline budgets, and ensure financial integrity across projects. Imagine yourself as the CFO of your projects, where your expertise in forecasting and financial analytics drives success and efficiency.

Your role will be crucial in managing project finances from the ground up, helping to navigate through the complexities of cost and compliance, all while aligning with strategic business goals.

What Will Make You Excel in This Role?

Qualifications:

Must-Have: A solid background in cost control, with at least 4 years of hands-on experience. A degree in mathematics, engineering, or a related field will be highly beneficial.

Nice-to-Have: A formal qualification in Project Controls.

Skills:

Critical: You are adept at understanding the levers of project profitability and have a robust grasp of project accounting principles under US GAAP. Your analytical prowess enables you to create reliable estimates at completion (EACs) and your problem-solving skills are second to none.

Preferred: Experience with specialized cost management tools like Cobra and Cognos will give you an edge.

Your Day-to-Day:

Strategic Influence: Collaborate with Project and Programme Managers to enhance planning and control processes. Your insights will help shape project strategy and execution.

Financial Leadership: From setting up projects in financial systems to managing complex budgets and forecasts, your financial acumen will ensure projects stay on track and profitable.

Compliance and Reporting: You'll champion the integrity of financial reporting, ensuring all practices are up-to-standard and reflect the project's fiscal health accurately.

Innovation and Improvement: Be at the forefront of implementing cutting-edge tools and processes that enhance transparency and efficiency in financial reporting.
