Cost Accountant

We have an immediate requirement for a Cost Accountant to join an Oxford-based manufacturing business, joining their busy finance team. It is a varied and interesting role, acting as an integral part of the business and engaging across a number of key teams. This is a temporary contract to begin with, but could ultimately become permanent for the right individual.
Cost Accountant responsibilities:
Improve financial awareness across the target teams.
Understand the manufacturing process, explain the consequences to managers of their processes, and improve financial accuracy.
Work with the Financial accountants to improve processes to prepare ONT operations to move into large scale production.
Support the approval of inventory journals.
Reconcile inventory, explain, and recode variances.
Proactively work with supply chain and production teams, to report variances and improve processes.
Work with operations on improving regular stock takes and standard cost reviews to improve inventory accuracy.
Assist in preparation of the statutory and external accounts.
Any other duties might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post.
