Cost Accountant

Major Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a leading FMCG business based in Burton on Trent who are looking to add a Financial Accountant to join their team supporting the Financial Controller.

The successful candidate will be working alongside the FC to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of standard costing and variance reporting.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Analyse changes in product recipes, raw materials or manufacturing methods to determine effects on cost.


• Analyse labour, material, inventory, and purchase price variances and work to reduce costs and create lean manufacturing processes.


• Variance analysis and review of cost allocation assumptions and rates


• Develop and maintain accurate standard cost systems.


• Input to continuous improvement process within the factory site.


• Provide new product costing and capital expenditure analysis for new factory projects.


• Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers, along with identifying cost saving opportunities.


• Possess a comprehensive understanding of factory operations and its product lines by working in a cross functional capacity in the product development process.

The ideal candidate:

• Must be ACMA Qualified


• Must have strong analytical skills and be able to drive continuous improvement.


• Must have standard costing experience with either SAP or similar ERP system.


• Experience within a FMCG manufacturing business


• Have a minimum of 3 years experience with standard cost accounting.


• Must be able to present information verbally and in writing with clarity and credibility ensuring the information is suitable for the audience.

• Salary up to �40,000 depending on experience
