Our client is seeking an experienced Conveyancing Assistant to join their team in Otley, West Yorkshire.
My client is currently looking for an experienced conveyancing assistant to support a single fee earner, as part of an experienced conveyancing team currently consisting of 5 fee earners and 4 assistants. With a one-fee earner to one assistant ratio at the practice.
This role will require someone capable of taking specific steps in residential property matters. This will be a transactional role, where responsibility will lie with the solicitor in charge who will delegate tasks as required. These will include file opening, searching, and various steps pre and post-completion.
Candidate Profile
• The right candidate will have previous legal experience in residential property.
• Ideally 1+ years experience working in a similar role.
• Previous Law Firm experience is desirable.
Main Duties:
• To act as assistant to a fee earner in the conveyancing department.
• Typing from digital dictation (Voicepower DPA), quickly and accurately and prioritising where required and/or noted
• Correcting the fee earner’s obvious mistakes and checking where in any doubt
• Composing and producing routine correspondence and documents using the firm’s Case Management System (P4W TFB) and assisting in ongoing developments of that system
• Opening new files and matters and send out fee estimate letters
• Scan client ID & other documents and update the matter file
• Send out Property searches
• Obtain documents from Land Registry, office copy entries.
• Complete registration post completion with Land Registry
• File SDLT return and arrange payment of SDLT tax
• File any deeds and document in storage accurately
• Assisting with the workload of others in the conveyancing team where time allows and/or priorities and/or holiday periods require
