Job Description
JAB Recruitment are currently looking to appoint a Controls and Instrument Support Engineer on behalf of our Operator client based in Aberdeen. This would be a short-term contract position.
Job Summary
The Controls & Instrumentation Engineer role supports the Engineering & Asset Integrity Team, reporting to the Engineering Lead. They are responsible for managing the delivery of assigned engineering studies and projects in line with our client's management systems.
The role will provide controls & instrumentation engineering discipline support to the Engineering & Asset Integrity Team and business as required, ensuring internal and 3rd party engineering work, completed on behalf of the company, complies with relevant legislation, standards and industry guidance.
The role will support technical assurance activities within the business by actively participating in the development and adherence of company procedures and performance standards. They will support the TA framework through identification and assessment of process safety risks.
Job Content
This role has the following responsibilities and outputs
Manage delivery of assigned engineering studies and projects;
Creation and/or input into project Statement of Requirements;
Delivery of work within assigned budgets, identification of cost savings, provision of accurate cost forecasting and input into business planning and budget process;
Input into appropriate financial authorisation and PSCM documentation to support assigned projects such as FMs, AFEs, CADs & SSJs;
Support close out of engineering projects;
Management of third-party suppliers in the execution of topsides engineering project delivery;
Provide discipline input to engineering project scope definition and execution;
Review and acceptance of relevant engineering project deliverables;
Discipline input into technical, safety and commercial reviews;
Maintain and update discipline category A documentation;
Support Verification & Compliance engineer with IVB interface regarding modification verification activities for assigned projects;
Adhere to and comply with relevant client procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement;
Participate in audits and incident investigations as required;
Provide discipline support to the business as assigned by the Technical Manager;
Identify business risks and provide input to the business risk register and cumulative risk process;
Support the TA framework through technical assessment of identified risks or performance standard failures;
Participate in the development and review of performance standards;
Occasional attendance offshore, on site and at meetings (regional and global) as may be required;
Share and adopt best practices across the company and support and identify opportunities to enhance consistency where practicable;
Maintain an appreciation of emerging discipline technologies that could improve the asset performance.
HSEQ Responsibilities

Familiarise with the company Policies, including the policies on HSE, Risk Management and Major Hazards;
Familiarise with the client's Management System and its meaning for day-to-day work;
Familiarise with the work and be aware of all associated risks for People, the Environment, Assets and Reputation (PEAR);
Report any incident, near miss, hazards (unsafe acts/situations) and improvement suggestions;
Know their roles and responsibilities;
Actively participate in any job or HSEQ training or instruction by or on behalf of our client;
Use all provided means as intended and according to their purpose.
Competence Requirements
Applicable engineering degree or equivalent
Familiar with codes and standards applicable to C&I engineering.
Awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports.
Proven track record in project delivery and third-party management.
Experience of asset operations either in an onshore or offshore role
Experience of EPC work including at concept, FEED and detailed design.
Membership of / Chartership by a relevant industry body is beneficial but not essential.
