The Contracts Manager role



We currently have an opportunity for a Contracts Manager for a Design & Build contractor. As Contracts Manager the role will involve overseeing several projects valued at £2 Million to £20 Million across a diverse range of sectors including education, healthcare, commercial and industrial. The role will oversee teams of Project Managers and Site Managers to ensure the safe, timely and successful delivery of projects.

Contracts Manager role and responsibilities



The Contracts Manager position will be responsible to a Construction Director – overseeing the safe and timely delivery of projects including:




  • Attend post tender and pre-contract meetings

  • Assist with selection of subcontractors

  • Working with the Planning teams on programming and on-going short term programmes in conjunction with Project Managers

  • Oversee site set up including all services and utilities

  • Oversee method statements and risk assessments.

  • Ensure all works are carried out with strict adherence of Health & Safety law and company policy

  • Work with the Design Managers to understand the technical and design requirements of the project

  • Ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of technical information

  • Allocation of labour and management resources

  • Work with Buyers and the Commercial team to ensure timely delivery of plant and materials

  • Produce progress reports

  • Maintain levels of quality and attention to detail

  • Work closely with and develop relationships with clients

  • Motivate and manage operations staff including Project Managers, Site Managers, Forepersons and Engineers

  • Manage and develop sub-contractor relationships

  • Attend and chair key meetings with key stake holders

  • Use of company systems and processes and applying best practice

Requirements



Successful applicants will have a proven track record of undertaking the role of Contracts Manager for a main contractor who undertake projects of a similar size and nature. In addition successful applicants should hold an HNC or degree level qualification in a construction discipline or be from a trades background.
