Claxton are looking to hire a Contracts Assistant on a full time permanent basis. Based in Great Yarmouth, the Contracts Assistant will report to and provide assistance to the Senior Contracts Manager in all phases of the contractual and compliance activity i.e. pre- and post-contract (pre-qualification, tendering and contract / project delivery) and commercial aspects of project/proposals, with particular focus on supporting the Senior Contracts Manager in an administrative capacity. This would be an excellent opportunity for a Law Graduate with one to two years experience, looking for an oppoortunity to expand their knowledge and development.


Duties

  • Assist the Senior Contracts Manager and Senior Contracts Advisor in the co-ordination and administration of pre-qualification, request for information and tendering requirements relevant to contractual and compliance issues, including but not limited to JV's, partnerships relationship establishment and client and subcontract reviews
  • Comply with all contract policies and procedures, and contribute to the assessment and continuous improvement of the same
  • Maintain, file and store all contractual documents, including insurance documentation
  • Review designated contract documents under the supervision of the Senior Contracts Manager, and/or Senior Contracts Advisor, as and when requested, with particular focus on non-disclosure agreements
  • Assist with the filing and administration of loss/damage incidents and possible insurance claims
  • Where necessary, accompany the Senior Contracts Manager in contractual meetings with internal stakeholders and applicable third parties
  • Assist the Senior Contracts Manager to interface with the Group Legal for support, advice, and guidance in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Operate within standardised contracting policies, processes and systems and always ensure compliance with these processes
  • Identify best practices and opportunities for improvement in contracting policies and procedures
  • Assist the Senior Contracts Manager in the monitoring of existing contract expiry dates and subsequent renewal of the same
  • Adhere strictly to the Company's policies including, but not limited to, anti-bribery and foreign corrupt practices
  • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned


Requirements

  • 2 years' experience within a Contract Specialist role or similar with a highly regarded (preferably marine or construction based) organization
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of subcontracting T&C's and subcontractor agreements
  • Understanding of the complete business cycle of RFQ's, bidding, project management, executions of services, and any claims
  • Experience within the complexities of working and operating in an international group of companies
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and talent for accuracy and precision
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to research and understand legal and financial implications
  • The ability to collaborate with all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A willingness to travel as required
