We work together as a team of over 1,600 expert members of staff to make a difference for our patients and their families.Our latest CQC Report was published in February 2019 and saw us rated as ‘Good’ overall and ‘Outstanding’ for care.We run a Shropshire wide service for patients based on a Hub and Spoke model with Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital as the Hub and various other sites (spokes) within the county from where we offer our service to patients.Who we are looking forWe are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic consultant Rheumatologist who will contribute to the provision and development of our high quality service. Sessional commitments will include outpatient clinics at RJAH and a number of outreach sites, review of inpatients, and multidisciplinary clinical meetings.There is also an opportunity to develop a special interest in Metabolic Medicine and to be part of the
consultant
on-call rota, but this is not essential. Main duties of the jobOur Rheumatology team consists of seven experienced consultant rheumatologists, three specialty Doctors and six clinical nurse specialists. We also have support from specialist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and a specialist Rheumatology Pharmacist.Our Rheumatology team is the lead provider for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin providing services at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Gobowen, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, The Princess Royal Hospital Telford, Euston House Telford, Ludlow Community Hospital, Whitchurch Community Hospital. The post holder will join a team of rheumatologists and metabolic bone clinicians at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RJAH). There will also be an opportunity to develop a special interest (for e.g., in Metabolic bone disease) in other aspects of rheumatology and related services and to participate in the consultant on-call rota for perioperative medicine, but this is not essential.RJAH provides services for a population well in excess of 750,000 people from Shropshire, Mid Wales, North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. The hospital receives secondary and tertiary referrals from an even wider area.
