Consultant Radiologist (with an interest in Gynaecological Radiology)Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly and cohesive team of radiologists with diverse expertise in a busy department and a strong record in teaching and training. The applicant would be expected to join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service and providing support for multidisciplinary meetings. The post-holder will also support the running of service in our main department at St George's Hospital.Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will be expected, in collaboration with the other radiologists in the department, to oversee and ensure the provision of high-quality clinical services within the Radiology Department. This would consist of providing a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service which includes general plain radiography,, CT, ultrasound, and MRI. Experience in leading imaging in multidisciplinary meetings is essential. In addition the post will contain general diagnostic adult sessions in CT and plain film reporting. The successful applicant would take part in general oncall and have participation in training and quality improvement activity would also be expected.The post-holder will also participate in a full-time diagnostic on-call rota (approximately 1:15), alongside regular weekend working (with time off in-lieu).It is expected that applicants will have the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists and a CCT in Radiology or equivalent training and experience.About usSt George's, University of London is the UK's only independent medical and healthcare higher education institution. We are also focused on enhancing understanding of public health and epidemiology, clinical genetics, and social care sciences.More information about St George's, University of London can be found at www.sgul.ac.uk.Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesA less than full time Job Plan will contain 5.5 Programmed Activities which includes 4 PAs for direct clinical care and 1.5 supporting PAs. Sessions will be a mix of acute and outpatient reporting. On-call commitment is not required but can be discussed with the Care Group Lead. This post also includes teaching of undergraduates and radiology registrars in the department.The diagnostic on-call is overseen by a single consultant with the support of a second consultant radiologist on weekends. Each week on call and weekend working is compensated by time in lieu during the week. The post-holder can expect up to approximately 5 weekends (on-call/second consultant) per year. The department is currently exploring how to address 7 day working. In the future, further sessional working in the evenings and at the weekend on a rotational basis may also be required.Each job plan will be reviewed within 3 months of appointment and will be subject to change.
