Main duties of the jobSpecifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in the planning, development and delivery of the Respiratory Service for the Directorate.Provide direct input to patients; contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and lead the co-ordination of care for patientsParticipate in the Consultant on-call rota at Royal Preston Hospital with additional cover during colleague’s absence.Share a 34 bedded respiratory ward and Enhanced High care ward with the other Consultant Chest Physicians, the Middle Grades and a team of junior doctors, including CMTs and FY1s.Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods.Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.Exercise the freedom to develop specialist elements of the services to reflect perceived priorities within available resources.The appointee will have individual access to an office with appropriate IT facilities and dedicated secretarial support.The post holder will carry out General and Specialist Respiratory Clinics. A standard template for each clinic has 3 New and 6 Follow up patients.Cover Consultant colleagues, by prior agreement, for planned annual leave, study leave, and short term absences.Working for our organisationAs a teaching hospital, we encourage all our staff to participate in teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
