Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

This is an exciting opportunity for a Full time Substantive Consultant post based in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. You will be joining Colleagues in a well-established and innovative Directorate, with supportive colleagues and a culture where development and progression is embedded. The Postholder will be managerially responsible to Dr Antonio Munoz-Solomando, Clinical Lead. The Postholder will be required to liaise with Clinicians and partner agencies including Paediatrics, Education and Children Services as and when necessary. Further the Postholder will be expected work at other UHB Sites if required. Interview date will be July 2nd.Main duties of the jobThe duties include:
Management of Taf Ely patients in the Community as part of the Multidisciplinary Team and occasionally if admitted to the Paediatric Wards within the Directorate. Implementation of the Mental Health Act and associated duties. Liaison and collaboration with colleagues within the team, the Directorate and beyond - including other organisations, Local Authorities and the third sector. Supervision of team members as appropriate, especially the Band 7 team lead and contributing to team meetings. Taking leadership areas of development within the team and the service in coordination with senior professionals and locality managers. The management of complex cases, providing leadership and specialist advice to colleagues across the team. Providing guidance and advise on new referrals and sign posting to most appropriate person to undertake initial assessment. Becoming a Care Coordinator for Part 2 cases when appropriate. Assessment, diagnosis and formulation of management plans for patients

GMC Registration On specialist register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent relevant experience in child and Adolescent Psychiatry or eligible within 6 months of CCT Clinical experience in Paediatric Liaison Psychiatry and Eating Disorder
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential
Commitment to team approach and multidisciplinary working Interest in Clinical Audit. Research interest. Experience of teaching undergraduates/postgraduates
Desirable
Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding of role of audit.
Skills and AbilitiesEssential
Good interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to understanding of the management of process Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
