The Trust is seeking to appointment a substantive Consultant Gastroenterologist. This appointment will join the existing 15 Gastroenterologists, predominantly based in Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, although an element of cross site working may be required. The current fourteen consultants provide sub speciality interests in upper and lower therapeutic endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, nutrition, Pancreatic-biliary and motility/functional disease. Existing services include bowel cancer screening, ERCP and spyglass, endoscopic ultrasound, advanced GI physiology and capsule endoscopy.
We are looking for a post holder with a special interest in Neuroendocrine Tumours.
The post holder will be involved with in-patient gastroenterology and GIM and participate in approximately 1:5 acute GI bleed on call.

On Wards: 5 ward rounds. 1 OPD. MDTs (UGI, lower GI, IBD)
Off wards. 3 endoscopy, specifics dependent on skills/interests. 3 OPD. MDTs (UGI, lower GI, IBD)
Lunchtime sessions will generally be free sessions, unless at MDT, but if administrative pressures are high, the consultant will normally do administration over lunch and take time off in lieu during other admin sessions, possibly at a later date.
There is provision for CPD within the job plan.

About us
The Trust has three Clinical Divisions, each managed by a Divisional Director (Senior Clinician). This role is supported by a full time Operational Service Manager and a full time management accountant. The approach, in line with Department of Health guidance, devolves as much day to day operational management to the Divisional Management Boards as possible. When appropriate, individual consultants are encouraged and indeed expected to liaise closely with their Divisional Director and clinical colleagues to resolve operational issues. Each Divisional Director is a member of the Trust Executive Board, chaired by the Chief Executive.

The Gastroenterology business unit is part of specialty medicine and includes endoscopy and Sterile Services and it sits within the Medicine Division.

Professional Qualifications
Essential
MBBS or equivalent
MRCP
Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register, or within 6 months of completion of CCT at time of interview
Full GMC registration
Desirable
An appropriate higher degree, e.g. an MD, PhD or equivalent
Completed UK training programme in GI/hepatology
Previous NHS experience
Clinical Experience and Knowledge
Essential
Broad experience in Gastroenterology and endoscopy
JAG accredited in upper and lower endoscopy
Able to endoscope acute GI bleeding patients
Evidence of research and audit
Clinical Skills & Ability
Essential
Provide a good standard of clinical care

Willingness to contribute to education of trainees and colleagues
