You will be part of a team of ecologists working on a range of projects spanning several sectors and to succeed in this role you must have an appropriate BSc or equivalent qualification/experience.Marine biology is a specialist discipline providing technical advice for projects in Offshore decommissioning, International Finance, advising on the ecological enhancement of offshore renewable zones, marine (biodiversity) net gain, and ecological risk assessments (relating to pollution).We work to create a sustainable future and our inspiring projects and innovative solutions aim to set the standard among our peers. Together, we lead and leave a positive impact on societies, companies and people around the world.You will join our Ecosystem Solutions departmentAs our new consultant Ecologist/Marine Biologist you will be part of a specialist team including ecologists, nature based solutions specialists and ecotoxicologists delivering work in support of sustainable development, including biodiversity net gain, natural capital accounting and ecosystem services. We are a growing, ambitious and diverse team with a unique integrated approach; the team is dynamic and friendly, delivering work for a range of clients.Our team is small enough that you will get to know everyone and feel you have a significant role to play, big enough that there are people to bounce ideas off and with a range of different specialists and we are doing some interesting work on nature positive/corporate BNG work/renewables. There is an interesting variety of work and opportunity to work with and get to know colleagues in a variety of other environmental disciplines.Project work will be varied, covering a broad range of projects including:Offshore wind ecological mitigation and enhancementsImpacts and dependencies on the marine environmentNature-based solutionsYour key tasks and responsibilities will be:Undertaking marine biology assessments and producing high quality reportsLiaising with regulatorsAssisting with management of small to medium scale projects with input on large scale projects with the support of the marine biology leadTeam player engaging with Ramboll project managers, clients, partner organisations and sub-consultantsDelivering technical work on complex projectsAssisting with fee proposal preparation and client communicationsInputs to resource planningCarrying out such additional duties as may reasonably be required in this roleYour key deliverables over the first 24 months for this role will be:Successful contribution to delivery of marine projectsSpecialist advice to Marine Biology lead to support project managers and other Ramboll teams such as impact assessment and marine engineersContribution to the fields of biodiversity, natural capital, climate and sustainabilityYour starting point for constant growthFrom the moment you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow with the company. For this role, we believe your starting point is:Member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental ManagementAppropriate BSc or equivalent qualification (MSc in a relevant environmental discipline is highly desirable)Capable of producing clear and concise deliverables to a high technical standardHighly organised and able to work efficiently and effectively to deadlinesGood knowledge of relevant environmental/ecology legislationAn understanding of the UK planning system in relation to development and the integration of ecologyProficient user of MS Office software and ideally ArcGISFull clean UK driving licencePersonal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include: Flexible, collaborative, organised and able to prioritise own workload.
