We are seeking a passionate and committed Consultant Psychologist/Psychological Practitioner to provide clinical and strategic leadership to our inpatient psychology teams. You will be working in partnership with the Head of Psychological Services for Acute Mental Health Services. The role will be based at our mental health units in Hammersmith and Isleworth, both units have male and female adult acute wards and a Health Based Place of Safety. In Hammersmith the unit also has a male psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU). Service users present in acute mental health crisis with a diverse range of psychological needs and risk concerns and are in need of intensive treatment with most service users detained under the Mental Health Act.The role will provide a career development opportunity to work in a leadership position ensuring that high quality, trauma informed psychological care is provided within the inpatient setting. This will involve both provision of direct interventions with service users and carers, providing clinical/line management supervision and contributing to the development of processes for the psychology provision on the unit. The role will also provide the opportunity to develop strategic leadership skills working with the Head of Psychological Services and the senior management team drawing on national guidance and Trust objectives to delivery an effective, evidenced based service.Main duties of the jobYou will lead on the provision and delivery of a comprehensive psychology service including direct and indirect psychological interventions, facilitating case formulation for MDT colleagues, facilitating reflective practice, supervising and supporting psychology colleagues.You will work as a key member of the senior management team of each unit contributing to the leadership and development of the service. Along with working in partnership with the Head of Psychology for Acute Mental Health Services.Skills in working with service users presenting with acute mental health difficulties, experience of providing direct and indirect interventions adapted for an acute mental health setting, skills in working with MDT colleagues to enable them to work in a psychologically informed approach, supervisory and leadership experience are essential.We require a genuine commitment to implementing and embedding least restrictive practice and trauma informed care in an acute mental health setting in which service users are presenting with the highest levels of needs. Along with an interest in supporting and developing both psychology colleagues and the psychology skills of MDT colleagues.You will be based at Hammersmith & Fulham Mental Health Unit and Lakeside Mental Health Unit.
