The role Fugro is now seeking ambitious principal engineer to lead the GeoConsultancy activities in UK LSC. The role is required due to the breadth of potential studies and the detailed client interaction that is required to deliver client focussed solutions. A close working relationship with LSC Commercial function and Strategic Sales and Marketing will be required to ensure Fugro deliver a consultancy led mindset. The Consultancy Team Lead will provide technical leadership for all staff working on any project that requires consultancy studies in addition to direct line management of their own team. It is expected that 50% of their time will be allocated to project delivery and 50% to business development, tender preparation, client engagement and assuring the quality of all consultancy deliverables. The role will support all staff working on consultancy projects with the management, supervision, interpretation and reporting of all onshore and nearshore studies. You will be the first point of contact and escalation route for all consultancy bidding and execution tasks including desk studies, advisory work, integrating the multidisciplinary data into ground model, data QC, interpretation and reporting and will ensure our technical workflows are fit for purpose and will identify areas for improvement. The role will have a strong link with internal and external teams (e.g. Geophysics, CPT, Digitisation, etc,) to ensure project delivery targets are achieved. The role will be required to capture and report progress and identify and mitigate potential project bottlenecks and liquidated damages. The role holder will work closely with the members of the GeoConsultancy leadership team and report to the GeoConsultancy Service Line (SL) Manager. The Consultancy Team Leader works closely with both Engineers in consultancy team and engineers in Geophysics team to ensure successful completion of site and reporting activities and to maintain clear communication on internal performance measures and, if required, liaison with clients. They also interact regularly with other Fugro departments including Geotechnical Laboratory staff to ensure progress to plan on all land projects. Ideally, they will be able to identify areas for workflow improvement to drive standardisation and efficiency in all consultancy projects. They also have a role to play in pre-tender stage by seeking the alternative methodologies that will bring advantage to Fugro on winning the project or increase the profitability. Who we’re looking for: Essential Strong technical background to understand project challenges and capability to provide advice related with ground risks; Previous experience as a consultant with active connections within the industry; A Master degree or similar qualification in Earth Sciences or Geotechnical Engineering; Actively pursuing chartership through an appropriate professional institution or having achieved Chartered Engineer/Geologist status; Strong understanding of UK geology, soil and rock mechanics and capability to assess the ground related risks; Capability to interpret surface geophysical data and integrating with geotechnical datasets, Able to lead desktop studies, analyse and interpret multidisciplinary data, develop integrated ground models in 3D; Good hands-on experience of appropriate engineering software and databases; Capable to steer and develop team of engineers: Capable of generating good working environment and quality-based culture within the team; Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to influence the clients technically; Full UK Driving licence.
