Job DescriptionConstruction Lawyer - Rentokil InitialThe salary for this position is based on the candidate's level of experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package, which encompasses a yearly bonus of up to 50% based on company and individual performance, private healthcare and enhanced pension. This is an exciting opportunity for a Construction Lawyer to join our legal team based from our office in Crawley. This role is a hybrid working role where home working will be expected as well.This role is a full-time, permanent position with working hours from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.Rentokil Initial is not just any business services company - we are one of the largest in the world! Moreover, we go beyond protection and actively improve lives through services designed to safeguard the health and wellbeing of individuals, as well as the reputation of our esteemed customers' brands.Key ResponsibilitiesThis role will primarily involve handling all legal matters related to the construction contracts for our Property, Specialist Hygiene, and Pest businesses. You will be responsible for ensuring that the necessary legal tasks are completed for contracts that are already in place or currently being negotiated.Key responsibilities include:Taking charge of a diverse range of casesReviewing, negotiating and drafting construction (and commercial) terms, contracts and legal agreements for business projectsSupporting the business in commercial negotiations with end clientsAdvise on arising issues, insured risks and legal/commercial queries with guidance from appropriate functions where requiredDeliver training programmes to the business on legal and contractual risks and issues related to construction terms and contractsLooking at ways to improve ways of working and processesUpdating precedents and templatesWhen required, work with the regional general counsel and/ or external counsel on any issues arisingKey RequirementsA qualified lawyer in England & Wales, or any relevant jurisdiction with a minimum of 5 years PQEStrong technical knowledge of the legal aspects and commercial dynamics of the construction industryPrior experience working in the private sector is a plusExpertise in industry-standard forms of contract such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC & SBCCFamiliarity with concepts related to construction project insurance, collateral warranties, performance bonds, guarantees, and claims managementThorough understanding of general corporate, commercial contracts, and legal principlesEffective negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills to handle internal stakeholders and build relationships with clientsStrong communication skills both written and spoken, with the ability to effectively persuade and influence others.Strategic and creative thinker with the capability to resolve legal issuesComfortable working with incomplete information and able to suggest courses of action despite uncertaintiesCapable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, as well as independentlyAble to communicate complex and technical legal concepts to a non-technical audienceBenefitsEnhanced pensionPrivate healthcareYearly bonus of up to 50%Explore exciting discounts and cashback offers from over 3,000 retailers with RI RewardsOur Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) - which is FREE to access and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to you as well as your family and friends.Refer a Friend scheme - to work for Rentokil Initial (and earn up to £#####)Rentokil Initial are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to creating a diverse working environment.
