Nationally recognised for how well we develop our people, weve the perfect opportunity for a talented Construction Director to lead on the delivery of a large complex construction project for the Defence sector based in the South West of England.What you'll be doingYou will:Create a culture of openness and trust in reporting of Health and Safety mattersSet and manage targets and KPIs in line with Project / Business objectives and monitoring performance, steering towards successCarry out periodic Safety and Environmental Tours as required by the Project Construction Phase PlanLead / Review Accident / Incident Investigations. Review and appraise findings and lead / direct the appropriate action arising (HFACS and Four Page Reports). Implement culture for change when requiredEnsure that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an appropriate level of ability.Ensure site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findingsManage the implementation of systems and processes for Right First Time approachDrive Lean initiatives to improve project efficiencyCarry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programmeManage sub-contractor performance based on KPIsEnsure production of operational target programmes to reflect overall construction programmeTake ownership of weekly cost meetings and identification of improvement areas and allocation of appropriate actions to team membersOversee the preparation of a cost plan and manage cost v valueManage the procurement of subcontractors and advise on commercial and operational risks to the scheme and mitigation optionsWho we're looking forYou will have:A proven track record in managing and leading large teams in particular major defence projects.Demonstrable experience of innovation, in all fields (Health and Safety, Operational Delivery etc)Strong leadership and management skills, instilling a culture of strong team ethicsWide ranging independent judgement evident, proven track record in this regardAchieved professional accreditation and undertakes extra-curricular activities to advance the profession (eg ICE, IHT, CMI)Experience in the delivery of lean construction techniquesEligibility to obtain SC and DV ClearanceAWhy work for usDay in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UKs most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities.As if contributing to and supporting work that makes life better for millions wasnt rewarding enough, we offer a full range of benefits too.
