This firm is one of the outstanding firms in London who are looking for the strongest of talent to be their first Conflicts Attorney / Conflicts Lawyer in the London office and will compensate accordingly.Tremendous salaryHugely accountable and leading roleStunning offices and benefitsThe new Conflicts Attorney / Conflicts Lawyer will assist the Chief Conflicts and Compliance Officer and the Senior European Risk & Compliance Counsel with all aspects of conflicts searching and new business intake and will be a member of the team responsible for clearing conflicts for lateral lawyer and staff candidates.This role facilitates new matter and new client intake, including through conflict-of-interest research, communicating with partners to clear conflicts search results, accurately identifying potential conflicts, preparing necessary conflicts waivers and engagement letters to address conflicts issues and liaising with partners and clients with respect to obtaining such conflicts waivers as necessary.Conflicts Attorney / Conflicts Lawyer Responsibilities will include:Developing and maintaining expertise on conflicts rules in both New York/US and the UK, as well as knowledge of approaches in specific practice areas.Conducting research as necessary on new clients and involved parties.Utilizing corporate databases to research corporate ownership structures.Performing conflicts searches and processing requests within the Firm’s conflicts searching and new business intake platform.Analysing and paring down conflicts search results for delivery to partners.Assisting partners of the firm with the analysis and resolution of potential conflicts issues.Advising attorneys/solicitors on conflicts rules.Drafting engagement letters and waiver letters as needed by partners.Clearing conflicts for incoming lateral candidates.Coordinating and corresponding with the attorneys across the firm regarding conflicts search requests.Conflicts Attorney / Conflicts Lawyer requirements:Qualified solicitor.2+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in a conflicts department of a New York based law firm.Experience with analysing conflicts of interest and the law of conflicts of interest.Aptitude for learning new systems, including ability to participate in discussions about design of existing or new system based on departmental and firm needs.Ability to handle multiple complex situations, organize, prioritize, plan, adapt quickly to changes in workflow and multi-task work activitiesDemonstrated good business judgment and analytical skills.Ability to research and understand complex corporate relationships and determine how proposed relationships relate to the firm’s existing engagements.Ability to communicate professionally, clearly, concisely, and diplomatically both verbally and in writing and articulate legal relationships and the nature of representations.
