This is an exciting role, with the opportunity to put your stamp on the community fundraising programme, which has much potential, and supporting the team to create engaging and multichannel communications to our audiences with the aim to improve retention and increase acquisition.The post holder is responsible for developing long-term relationships with community organisations such as social clubs, local pubs, schools and religious organisations, developing appropriate fundraising activities, events and initiatives to successfully grow income in the coming years.Organisational contextSt Joseph’s Hospice was founded in 1905 by the Religious Sisters of Charity who retain an interest in the oversight of the Hospice through their representation on the Board of Trustees. The Hospice is working to achieve Vision 2024, which has five key strands: patients, enterprise, estates, funding and fundraising, and human resources. The Hospice seeks to be an outstanding provider of palliative and end of life care. Each employee is critical to delivering and maintain those standards in accordance with the Hospice’s core values.Discretion to actThe post holder has day-to-day responsibility for delivering all tasks detailed in the job description with minimal supervision and as directed by the Corporate & Community Engagement Manager. The post holder will also work co-operatively with the wider fundraising team to ensure joined up working.Scale and impactManagement ResponsibilityThe post holder does not have line management responsibility but will be expected to manage volunteers including volunteer ambassadors.Budget: Income Target £100K+ in income from donations and fundraising activities and managing an expenditure budget of C £12K Key accountabilitiesCommunity EngagementTake responsibility for developing and implementing the Community Fundraising strategyTake responsibility for researching community groups, schools, religious organisations, businesses, corporate organisations and to identify new potential donors and the best approach to establish meaningful engagementTake responsibility for developing and implementing effective and tailored communications and approaches to engage the support of our existing and new supportersTake responsibility for developing and promoting range of fundraising activities, events and campaign initiatives aimed at community organisationsTake responsibility in conjunction with the Communications team, for ensuring community support is promoted across our social media channels and through local community associations and local media platformsTake responsibility for working with the Hospice’s internal stakeholders (Chaplaincy, volunteering and Supportive Care Services teams’) to develop projects for partnership opportunitiesEvent and project managementManage the income and expenditure budgets in line with overall Community Fundraising strategy, monitor income and expenditure against these events and campaigns and assist with monthly forecastingTake responsibility for community stakeholder engagement by giving talks and presentations to community organisations to encourage ongoing support and donationsTake responsibility for the development and management of recruiting and training volunteer ambassadors, alongside our Volunteers TeamTake responsibility for providing excellent supporter care and engagement to new and existing community organisationsContribute to the wider fundraising activities of the organisation, working closely and in co-operation with other members of fundraising and the wider charityTake responsibility for providing support to community organisations in their fundraising activities including developing products that will maximise their fundraising activityDemonstrate a willingness to attend events and fundraisers. E.g. visiting an evening Rotary Club where they are fundraising for The HospiceTake responsibility for developing a range of community events such as bucket collections and hospice-based donor-specific events (Cultivation or stewardship) to promote awareness of the Hospice and raise money in the community – E.g. Pamper evenings /donor-engagement eventsDatabase and other communicationsTake responsibility for the creation and maintenance of Community Organisation records on TQ CRM database to ensure data integrity and GDPR is in effectKeep up to date with best practice in fundraising and ensure compliance with latest legislation and guidelinesWork with the wider fundraising team and the Hospice to promote the work of St Joseph’s Hospice in all communities across the boroughs we serveBe the first point of engagement for all community organisations wishing to support the HospiceMaintain links with wider community fundraising through forums, Special Interest Groups, social groups etc. to keep abreast of trends and competitorsPersonal DevelopmentIdentify your own learning and development needs in order to meet the key requirements of the postTake responsibility for linking your own development needs with the Hospice appraisal and objective setting processTake responsibility for your own continuing development by undertaking specific areas of work/projects to develop new skillsTake responsibility for your own professional development, including keeping up-to-date with relevant professional and other developments in Fundraising at local and national levelsEngage in supervision to support your personal and professional development.Equality, diversity and inclusionComply with and promote St Joseph’s Hospice Equal Opportunity Policy and avoid any behaviour, which discriminates against colleagues, potential employees, patients/clients or their families on the grounds of sex, marital status, race, age, belief, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins, religion, disability, creed, class, gender, sexual orientationMission & core valuesAll Hospice staff are expected to work in line with St Joseph’s Mission & Core Values as these precepts act as a value base which directly influence how all work activities are undertaken.
