Servomex, the global expert in gas analysis and part of the FTSE 250 Spectris Group, is recruiting for
a Business Unit (BU) Manager to lead our Global Hummingbird business.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the BU Manager will have full responsibility and accountability for the unit's P&L, essential business KPIs, overall resource planning, cost management, portfolio management across the entire product lifecycle, and commercial activities including pricing, quotation, applications support and sales / business development activities.
To champion the Servomex safety first policy, actively supporting all activities and initiatives at a corporate, BU and individual level.
Work collaboratively as part of the Commercial Leadership Team, to set priorities and ensure that company standards and practices are adopted and maintained, such that overall Servomex priorities are achieved and performance maximised.
Work collaboratively as part of the Commercial Leadership Team, to develop the strategic vision & direction into a consolidated, 80:20 prioritised, customer driven, product portfolio roadmap. Ensuring that priority NPI, product extension & product sustaining projects are appropriately resourced, planned and financed from within the commercial group and delivered to budget and timeline.
Ensure the BU proactively contributes to the maintenance of and evolution of the company’s ethics, business compliance, Quality & regulatory requirements.
To drive customer engagement across the business, ensuring that the voice of the customer is a constant consideration within the business unit functions.
Ensure the BU maintains a high level of market understanding through analysis of relevant reports, market research, competitor analysis, surveys and customer visits.
Work with the Commercial Director and Finance Business Partner to manage the individual BU P&L and deliver sustainable profitable growth. Develop and execute annual BU financial plans through the annual budgeting process, quarterly and monthly reporting & forecasting cycles.
Lead, motivate and retain employees by actively managing the Servomex employee engagement processes, whilst continually developing and nurturing the next generation of managers and leaders through the deployment of talent management and succession planning activities to ensure highly effective teams for today and for the future.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of key financial and performance metrics.
Set direction for the selling, pricing strategies and marketing activities which will be executed by the BU focused sales and business development teams.
Contribute relevant material and analysis to the overall company strategic planning process, enabling Servomex to build long-term, sustainable, competitive advantages in the core markets.
Work in conjunction with the Commercial Director to establish and maintain the consolidated M&A target funnel.
To share best practise and work closely with peers, collaborating proactively with the aim of improving our ability to network in the industry and with customers / business influencers.
To maintain professional standards and implement all Spectris and Servomex policies/procedures across BU business operations.
Experience managing an OEM business from product conception, through engineering and global marketing and sales.
Team player able to balance being a member of the innovation to market Leadership Team with leading the Hummingbird team.
Result oriented behaviour and capable of strategic thinking for both long-term strategic plan and short-term tactical plan delivery.
Unrelenting internal and external customer focus and ability to turn this into game changing initiatives that can be applied throughout the organisation.
Proven track record of people management and development within a commercial and technical environment.
Strong communication, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to manage, deliver and sustain multi-disciplined projects and initiatives.
Strong leadership skills based on emotional intelligence and principle-centred leadership.
Ability to add commercial value and implement robust processes and controls.
Willingness to travel Globally, sometimes at short notice.
Proven strategic planning and management experience.
~ Experienced and adept at leading change including transformation programmes.
~ Track record of success in the design and implementation of organisational change.
~ Experience and knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques (including design for manufacture) and implementing Lean projects within a commercial environment.
~BSc/BA degree (or equivalent), preferably in a scientific or engineering discipline.
MBA or a professional marketing qualification is highly desirable.
