Commercial Underwriting Excellence SpecialistRegion: ScotlandLocation: GlasgowContract type: PermanentReference number: CSDI03632Working pattern: Full-time (Part-time hours considered)Salary: Up to £55,000 + 17.5% annual bonus + benefits packageCommercial Underwriting Excellence SpecialistA diverse role helping shape underwriting success as NFU Mutual’s commercial growth strategy progressesJoin a supportive and collaborative environment that offers ongoing personal and professional developmentThis is a hybrid role with 80% homeworking and 20% in Stratford Upon Avon, York, Bristol, Glasgow, or BelfastAbout the roleWe have an exciting opportunity available for a skilled Commercial Underwriting professional to join our Best Practice team within Head Office Underwriting and be responsible for embedding best practice, ensuring underwriting excellence.As the crucial link between Head Office and Delivery, you’ll be liaising with various stakeholders to drive changes forward and support the ongoing development of our Regional teams.You’ll be at the forefront of driving operational excellence, influencing best practices, and supporting transformative initiatives across our Commercial Lines book, including property and casualty insurance. You’ll analyse technical activity, report on trends and identify opportunities for improvement to actively drive positive changes in how our underwriters operate.As a valued specialist, you’ll be leading on initiatives such as the competency development framework, creating and delivering training material and enhancing assessments to ensure our Underwriters are equipped with the latest knowledge. This will also include reviewing and improving underwriting manuals, particularly during the transition to a new policy administration system.A small part of your role will see you remain involved in referrals and escalated cases, providing your expertise to resolve complex underwriting issues, and so you’ll hold an underwriting licence. You’ll also be involved in analysing referrals to identify trends and suggest improvements, working closely with quality assurance to discuss findings from file reviews, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly.This Commercial Underwriting Excellence Specialist role is known internally as a Regional Senior Technician.About youYou demonstrate considerable experience within Commercial Lines underwriting (either Property and/or Casualty), including experience dealing with underwriting referrals and complex cases.
