About the roleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. We are open to this position being based from our Oldham, Bristol or London office and operate a hybrid working basis which offers the opportunity to work in the office 2 days per week and from home 3 days a week, you will also be required to travel to sites as and when required.In this newly created Commercial Officer role you will report into the Head of/Commercial Manager and sit within the Construction, Design & Quality Team, working very closely with the wider Development team across Guinness. This role will assist the team by providing commercial expertise in the support of high-quality developments, ensuring projects run to established budgets with accurate and timely reporting of budget variance, providing advice on mitigation where necessary.What we're looking forYou'll need to be experienced building and construction professional able to support with the development projects by assessing scheme costs and supporting the team to meet or exceed programmed delivery of new schemes through effective tendering and appointment of contractors and manage and monitor the network of consultants, suppliers and contractors.We're a customer-focussed organisation so we know that how we do things is just as important as what we do. Above all you'll be highly motivated with great stakeholder management, excellent customer service skills and willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done! You'll also be able to demonstrate the below:Essential:* Strong analytical background.* Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.* Strong computer skills, including MS Office.* Ability to accurately report against budget and communicate the findings to senior management.* Ability to work independently.* Demonstrates the Guinness Behaviours.Desirable:* Detailed knowledge and experience of alternative methods of construction (OSM, SIP, etc.).* Able to present factual reports to a wide, multi discipline audience.* Excellent, up to date, practical knowledge of the construction process and regulations.* Working knowledge of Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) forms of Contract.* Experience of managing the budgets of multiple, complex projects simultaneously.Essential Qualifications:* HNC/HND level qualification in Quantity Surveying / Building Management / Building Studies or working towards.* Full UK Driving licence.Desirable:* Degree / ACIOB / ARICS qualification.If you are interested in joining us and would like to apply for this role, please review the role profile to ensure you meet the essential criteria.How do I apply?If you feel you have what we're looking for then we'd love to hear from you!
