Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + pkgLocation: LondonRegion: LondonA Tier 1 Contractor is currently seeking a Commercial Manager with 10 + years UK main contractor Rail experience to work on a major rail infrastructure project in London. This opportunity offers the chance to work with one of the UK’s top civil engineering contractors on a multi-million pound project as well as the chance to progress up the commercial management chain of command.Applicants should have strong leadership skills and a bias towards fully co-operative team working, together with a successful track record, preferably with a significant period at Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager level within a regional civil engineering business. You should also be able to demonstrate a personal ability to take ownership of the financial outcome of projects and develop and lead successful commercial strategies. Further qualities would include, but not be limited, to the following:Capable of handling all the Commercial and Contractual aspects of a single contract (or group of contracts) up to a high value turnoverCan profitably run the commercial aspects of part of the business:-Monitoring and forecasting the financial resultsEnsuring that the value of change is agreed in a timely mannerMaximising contract marginsMaximising their cash positionManaging risk and opportunityManaging and motivating a team of quantity surveyorManage all existing contract activities effectively, ensuring the swift and effective resolution of issuesLead negotiations with customers on commercial and contractual matters, achieving timely agreement in a non-adversarial mannerSupervise the preparation of final accounts and lead negotiations on agreementCarry out commercial appraisals on tender opportunities and input to tender strategiesDevelop, maintain and manage relationships in assigned major existing customers to ensure the effective management of business agreements and contracts from the cradle to the graveProvide support to the negotiation and agreement of subcontract arrangements through to complex and strategic subcontract arrangements to minimise risk and maximise the advantage to the businessIdentify risks in relation to assigned major contracts/business arrangementsProposing responses in line with policies in order to maximise business returnLead, develop and motivate commercial staff, ensuring they are fully aware of and capable of meeting their accountabilitiesContribute to developing and maintaining commercial procedures and policies, and there implementation to support improved business effectivenessRequirements:Commercial experience on civil engineering projects with experience at a senior levelCommercially astute with excellent negotiating skillsTeam player with good communication skills and an approachable yet assertive styleExtensive knowledge of NEC and ICE forms of contractMinimum qualification HND/HNC, ideally Degree qualified with professional qualification (RICS/ICES)Computer LiterateIf you are interested in learning more about this role or have any questions, please contact Luke Stone on 07833 226563 or 020 ##### #####.
