We have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Lead to join our family run structural steel and architectural metalwork business. We work with Tier one main contractors in London and surrounding counties. We work with companies such as Barratts, Multiplex, Kier, Galliford Try, Multiplex, Ballymore, Berkeley & others. Contract values from £100k to £2m.
As our contracts and commercial expert, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, including reviewing projects at tender stage with our tender team, managing monthly applications for our 8-10 live projects, pricing and agreeing contract variations and making commercial business recommendations. You will be supporting projects but also helping guide the business in the right direction and overseeing the business cost analysis software in the senior management team.
In our small business this is a director level position and although we haven't got a team of QS's to be managing you will need to work closely with our office team and site teams to help our business be more efficient. You will need to make site visits to meet client commercial managers and review ongoing costs on live projects, reviewing issues with labour, materials and problems before they arise.
What you'll be doing:
* You will focus on embedding customer service as part of our Company culture, which will be delivered through creating relationships with our customers Commercial managers and Quantity surveyors.
* You will assist in minimizing the company’s exposure to financial risk by reviewing and negotiating contract terms at tender stage,
* You will develop and own a series of reports where they do not exist, or are lacking, to ensure effective reporting and management of cash flow and exposure.
* You will lead the efforts to sell our services on projects and gaining additional work by developing close relationships with project teams.

Who are we looking for?
* A self starter. Someone that will actively lead people within the business as a senior leader within our organisation.
* A background in construction, oil & gas, water or utilities would be advantageous.
* Previous experience in a commercial manager or quantity surveyor position from a subcontract or main contractor background.
* Strong client management skills, where you have showcased the ability to develop effective relationships, manage expectations and quickly resolve disputes.
* Experience of winning work.
* Knowledge of JCT contracts.
* Strong personal skills. The job is 50% personality and 50% knowledge and experience.
* Some level of computer skills. Excel. Apps. Etc
