Commercial Head of Finance (Progression to Commercial Finance Director) - Leeds

Axon Moore are partnering with a leading privately owned business in Leeds to appoint a Commercial Head of Finance. The role has the potential to evolve into a Commercial Finance Director role in the near future.
Having grown significantly in recent years both in terms of turnover, as well as the diversity of services they offer and their geographical footprint, a need has arisen for a commercially focused Head of Finance to join the business and play a vital leadership role.
The Commercial Head of Finance will lead the finance function and support the board with key insight to enable effective and strategic decision making.
They will also take ownership of a number of commercial activities of the business.
Key responsibilities include:

• Managing a wide range of commercial contracts with customers including both public and private sector clients
• Partnering business development managers and leaders within the business to win new contracts and secure the most profitable and viable commercial agreements with clients
• Preparing and onboarding business cases for presentation to the Board
• Interrogating commercial viability of existing and proposed contracts with clients and partners
• Involvement in the bidding activities for new potential contracts and customers
• Overseeing the monthly management accounting activities, setting KPIs, providing MI and insight to the board
• Overseeing the necessary financial reporting activities of the business at year end, working closely with the finance manager to finalise the audit

The ideal background and credentials for this candidate would comprise of:

• Qualified Accountant, with experience leading a finance team, or at least some form of management experience
• Strong commercial acumen, who is able to interrogate contracts and seek out commercial viability of projects and services
• Experience dealing directly with external clients would be advantageous
• Able to partner with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including those at board level
