As a Commercial Excellence Director your main responsibilities will be:
The role of Commercial Excellent Director entails leading the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Commercial Excellence team to ensure efficient delivery of value to the business through effective commercial planning, processes, data management, and governance. Responsibilities include developing and optimizing SCM processes, ensuring compliance with legislation and license conditions, acting as the global process owner, collaborating with senior leadership to define SCM strategy, and developing risk monitoring methodologies. Additionally, this role involves monitoring supply chain activities with regulators and managing corporate risk structures
Act as trusted advisor to the wider SCM team to ensure they are enabled to deliver commercial value through their delivery whilst ensuring risk and compliance are fully considered. Developing relationships and awareness within the SCM team of the relevant procurement legislation and government spend controls and ensure policy, procedures and templates are timely updated, in alignment with applicable HMG requirements. Ensuring AWE Supply Chain Excellence representation and active contribution in cross government workstreams related to policy, processes and procedures, and act at the AWE lead and point of contact where necessary. Ensuring a solid and longer-term pipeline of applicable procurements is maintained and shared with external stakeholders. Lead the interface with, and develop strong working relationships with other AWE corporate functions including Legal and Security. Developing and delivering high quality and timely market intelligence, reporting and management information to the SCM team to support the development of appropriate category strategies, commercial and sourcing strategies and to support SCM and wider supply chain performance. Leading the central Service Centre team to manage transactional procurement activity. Developing and maintaining the “commercial blueprint document” with the Cabinet Office to reflect the current and future SCM Strategy and Operating Model. Developing and maintaining a clear framework for functional competence development, leading and coordinating functional accreditations as necessary, for the individuals and for the overall SCM department, in alignment with the Government Commercial Function. Oversee the creation of SCM wide overall objectives and performance framework Undertaking the Head of Profession role for SCM, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver training, influence and lead change and champion best practice to develop and promote the Supply Chain Management function. Leading, managing and developing staff, promoting strong customer centric ethos to high professional standards.. Managing resourcing / recruitment for over 100FTE Demonstrating an exemplary enabling leadership approach Acting as a role model for health, safety, environmental and quality management and an advocate of AWE behaviours Lead for Astro and Odin integration, managing dependencies and timelines.
Essential:
Supply Chain Management Expertise:
Strong understanding of supply chain processes, procedures, and best practices. Ability to develop and optimize supply chain processes to deliver value to the business. Experience in managing procurement activities and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Commercial Excellence:
Capability to develop and implement commercial planning strategies. Proficiency in developing policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to support commercial operations. Skilled in developing and implementing sourcing strategies to achieve commercial objectives.
Governance and Compliance:
Experience in developing and maintaining governance frameworks to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies. Knowledge of procurement legislation and government spend controls.
Strategic Planning:
Ability to develop and maintain supply chain strategies and operating models. Experience in developing and implementing category strategies and commercial strategies.
Stakeholder Management:
Strong relationship-building skills to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to represent the organization in cross-government workstreams and act as a point of contact.
Leadership and Management:
Experience in leading and developing teams to drive performance and achieve objectives. Skilled in managing resourcing, recruitment, and staff development. Ability to foster a high-performance culture and promote inclusivity and continuous improvement.
Risk Management:
Proficiency in supply chain risk monitoring, mapping, and reporting.
Experience in managing supply chain-related activities with regulators and corporate risk structures. Data Analysis and Reporting:
Ability to develop and deliver high-quality market intelligence, reporting, and management information. Experience in analyzing data to support decision-making processes.
Change Management:
Experience in leading and managing change initiatives within the organization. Ability to champion best practices and drive continuous improvement.
DV Clearance -Candidates need to be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past 10 years for DV clearance
