Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a strong commercial lawyer (2 year PQE +) with experience of at least one of the following sectors: retail & consumer, financial services, advanced manufacturing, aviation, digital, and health.
The Team
Our Commercial team is a national group, with teams across each AG office working together on national and cross border transactions. The Scottish team have an enviable client base and consists of three partners (Helena Brown - Head of Data Protection, Ross McKenzie and Ross Nicol), fee earners, trainees and embedded paralegals who are involved in a range of work types including Intellectual Property protection and exploitation, IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing, facilities management outsourcing, logistics, SaaS, cloud arrangements and commercial contracts.
Where Will You Work?
You will be based in the Edinburgh office for this role. The wider Data Protection team are based across all of our UK offices. We operate a flexible, hybrid working system comprising a blend of working in the office and working from home, and we expect that that this will continue for the foreseeable future.
Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise
As an associate you should be able to manage your own workload with help from supporting partners and managing associates, handling a spread of commercial work, preparing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts for clients on both the customer and supplier side as well as managing transactions across IT, data protection and intellectual property issues. This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with excellent prospects for career development, and secondments, if you want them.

Experience gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level
Desire and ability to develop strong working relationships with clients and colleagues
Strong commercial awareness - but most importantly a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in commercial contracts
Be a team player, motivated and keen to progress to more senior roles within AG;
Be ambitious and want to help grow the international practice and take an active role in core initiatives in the firm;
Have enthusiasm for intellectually challenging work, are ambitious and confident to deliver at the highest standard;
Take time to fully appreciate clients' needs and priorities ensuring their advice is meaningful, tailored, commercial and delivered with a solutions-orientated and enabling mindset; AND
Details focussed, self-motivated and proactive, and confident in building enduring relationships with clients that are based on trust and high-quality service delivery.
