Coded Welder - Energy from Waste Servicing

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Servicing Company to recruit a Coded Welder for its UK servicing team.
The Coded Welder role comes with a starting salary of up to �40,000 + private medical + other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting directly to the Site Supervisor you will be responsible for:
  • Performing all responsibilities of coded welder, with a minimum of 3 weld certificates.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints with detailed drawings and dimension styles.
  • Sets up, positions and operates hand and power tools such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Determines welder settings required on project.
  • Verifies final weld penetration and aesthetics.
  • Welds prep and fit-up of steel parts.
  • Welds according to all appropriate codes and procedures.
  • Monitors quality of weld using appropriate tools and measuring devices.
  • Operates forklift, as needed, according to safe operating procedures.
  • Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
  • Prepares and works with Site supervisor and Service manager to follow-up deviations and claims
  • Keeps the Site Supervisor informed of all site related activities
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Level 3 qualification in relevant engineering discipline
  • Holds at least 3 weld certificates and has experience welding on heavy industrial sites.
  • Has experience welding in confined spaces.
  • Experience with Boiler Pressure Parts and associated legislation incl. 2014/29/EC, Simple Pressure Vessel Directive 2009/105/EC and Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC, 2014/68/EC
  • Knowledge of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, ATEX 95 Equipment Directive 94/9EC, 2014/34/EC and ATEX 137 Workplace Directive 1999/92/EC
