Our client on the outskirts of Birmingham are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Turner Setter Operator due to growth within the business. This is a great opportunity to join an expanding business who are market leaders in their sector machining their own products. The key function of this role will be setting machines using the drawing and manufacturing data packs ensuring that components are made to the required quality level and that you meet production targets. Due to variety of CNC lathes within the business candidates may be required to work on various machines in accordance with their skill level. Some training can be given for new machines and new controls if required.



CNC Turner Setter Operator Duties and responsibilities




  • Setting up & running CNC Lathes.

  • Setting up & running Machining Centres (beneficial, but not essential).

  • Monitor CNC machines & work in progress.

  • Ensure manufacturing activities are carried out in line with the agreed quality standards/documentation.

  • Carrying out in process quality assurance checks, including first off inspection.

  • Carrying out daily/monthly maintenance requirements on machines.

  • Reporting any operating/maintenance issues to the team leader.



CNC Turner Setter Operator Skills & Attributes




  • Ability to set and run a range of CNC machines, working with all types of materials, but principally brass and steel.

  • Have experience working as a CNC lathe setter/operator making high precision parts.

  • Excellent knowledge of machining to exact tolerances using various types of CNC machines, to carry out changes to, off-sets, tooling and cutting tips as required.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and design data.

  • Be able to understand CNC programs

  • Ability to operate inspection & measuring equipment

  • Be innovative in terms of problem solving and adaption to changes.

  • Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines.



CNC Turner Setter Operator Beneficial experience




  • Knowledge of ISO programs and experience with FANUC, Mazatrol or Siemens control systems preferred although not essential - training given to skilled engineers.

  • Fanuc based CNC Lathes

  • MAZAK (Mazatrol) QT200MS/QT250MSY

  • Citizen Miyano (ISO) L32IX/BNE51MSY/L20

  • Turning Centre- single and twin turret, sliding head & VMC 5 Axis

  • �18.00 per hour

  • 7am-3.30pm Monday to Thursday, 7am till 12pm on a Friday
