Serving the population of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, Leicester Childrens Hospital is one of the busiest acute and general paediatric centres in the United Kingdom. You will be a dedicated, compassionate, skilled and motivated clinician. They will have excellent communication skills, with empathy and compassion at the heart of the care they provide. You will work alongside the established paediatric physiotherapy team, including Clinical Specialists working within: Long Term Ventilation, Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia, East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre, Difficult Asthma and Outpatients. You will also work alongside our multidisciplinary teams and colleagues within the Community Paediatric Service.Main duties of the jobYou will be the lead physiotherapist responsible for delivering and developing the Cystic Fibrosis and non-CF Bronchiectasis Paediatric Physiotherapy service. This includes shared care of our patients at Kettering General Hospital. The post holder will provide highly specialist assessment and intervention for a complex caseload. You should be a highly motivated and innovative physiotherapist who is keen to improve the lives of children living with Cystic Fibrosis. As a paediatric Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in CF you will work closely with the CF Multidisciplinary team to deliver physiotherapy support to children and their families across the acute and community setting. We have a strong involvement in research and the development of treatments particularly in the era of modulator treatments. A car driver is essential for this post. The Paediatric Team provide a service to the Children's and Womens Services and the successful applicant will also provide care within the following areas: paediatric intensive care, high dependency unit, neo-natal unit, surgical and medical wards, orthopaedics, oncology, neurology, respiratory clinics and the maternity wards to provide optimum patient care and the effective, efficient working of the paediatric team ensuring on going service development.About usOur new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (##########0). Provide clinical and professional leadership to physiotherapy colleagues in the speciality area. Lead, evaluate and develop clinical practice within their speciality, ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines and frameworks. Be responsible for the clinical standards, evidence based practise and quality metrics within the speciality. Work as an autonomous practitioner to provide specialist therapy assessments, diagnose and develop individualised treatment programmes based on the childs needs, using advanced clinical reasoning skills. Be responsible for a clinical caseload which will include complex cases within their area of speciality. Undertake an active role in developing physiotherapy within the speciality. Be responsible for the day to day management of the delivery of physiotherapy by the specialist team in an efficient and effective way within this complex and pressurised environment. Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Physiotherapy within the specialist team holding responsibility for defined projects. Work alongside the Therapy Speciality Lead / Therapy Clinical Team Leader to develop links between the specialist therapy team and relevant CMGs (Clinical Management Groups) within UHL. Ensure the training and development of staff within the Therapy speciality team. Liaise with colleagues and work across site/cross specialty if appropriate in order to ensure the provision of a seamless equitable service. Deputise for the Therapy Clinical Team Leader as appropriate. Develop the evidence base for practice through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity. Assist and support the Therapy Leadership Team, Therapy Speciality Leads and Therapy Clinical Team Leaders in the improvement and transformation of Therapy services.
