We have an exciting opportunity for a new role of Risk and Governance Lead Midwife across Hywel Dda University Health Board. The right candidate will hold enthusiasm for taking the responsibility of the daily oversight of the Maternity risk and governance team, ensuring clinical risk management activities are undertaken in a forward thinking and driven manner. Interviews to be held on 13/6/24Main duties of the jobThis role will require the post-holder to work at an operational and strategic level within the Women and Child Health Directorate to deliver the maternity service governance and risk management agenda. Activities will include writing reports, investigations and monitoring action plans with provision of evidence. The post holder will have excellent communication skills, fanatical attention to detail, and drive to ensure that our Risk and Governance agendas are delivered within tight deadlines. The post holder will be responsible for the development of the clinical safety management strategy. In conjunction with the senior team be responsible for monitoring and reviewing service performance ensuring agreed targets are met. Report on performance and implementing remedial action as necessary. Work collaboratively and provide expertise to create strategies to support the implementation of enhanced and effective clinical safety management at directorate and corporate level. Engage with partner stakeholders and represent the Health Board at regional and where necessary national level to ensure strategic implementation of safety initiatives and improvements in line with local and national publications to optimise services and outcomes for service usersAbout usHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Registered Midwife Masters Degree relevant to subject or equivalent Management/ Leadership qualification

Experience in Patient Safety at Regional or National Level Management/ Leadership qualification

Experience in Patient Safety Portfolio of evidence Experience of working closely with clinicians and management of varying seniority Experience of analysing problems and identifying solutions Experience of presenting information to large audiences Ability to manage and deliver to deadlines and within resources Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working Experience of researching, analysing and interpreting complex information and in the use of systems, databases and other software tools Project management Experience of developing training programmes Evidence of relevant Patient Safety and Health & Safety experience Data base management Advanced specialist knowledge on the principles of patient safety & risk management NHS Constitution and understanding of current NHS issues, initiatives, legislation and policy In-depth knowledge of theory, methodologies, frameworks and tools relating to clinical effectiveness and quality improvement Information management and highly developed knowledge of confidentiality and data protection Knowledge of Patient complaints & management Excellent understanding of the healthcare regulations and the role of HIW and Ombudsmen Understanding of the diversity issues and customs of the patients Full understanding of the respective roles of HIW, CQC, MHRA,NPSA,NICE and other governmental and non-governmental healthcare organisations
