Clinical Nurse Specialist - Urology Enhanced Recovery

We are seeking to appoint a Urology Enhanced Recovery Clinical Nurse Specialist on a fixed term (12 month) part time (30 hour basis). You will be a recognised expert in the speciality, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes and undertaking specialist nursing procedures. You will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care. Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area Assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating care as a practitioner with specialist skills. Where applicable and qualified as a Nurse Independent Prescriber, prescribe any drugs within clinical competencies. We are looking for a positive attitude, as well as strong attention to detail and excellent people skills. Supervised training period will be available.Main duties of the jobCommunicating very sensitive condition related information to patients and relatives, requiring high levels of empathy and reassurance. Keep accurate patient records and ensure the patient pathway is co-ordinated and targets met Undertake surveys or audits in own specialty Support the implementation of research and audit findings Coordinate clinical and support services relevant to patients. Record concisely, accurately, confidentially and legibly the appropriate elements of history, results of investigations
Interpret results of complex patient investigations, discuss and liaise with colleagues to plan treatment options Organise own specialist workload, including education & training being able to flexibly respond to changing situations Provision of care through screening programmes, nurse-led clinics, accepting referrals, undertaking diagnostic procedures, undertaking therapeutic procedures, physical assessments and obtaining written consent to treatment Referring patients directly to specialists in other professions Providing expert specialist clinical advice for patients, carers and health care professionalsAbout usMid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.
