We are proud to provide Nutrition and Dietetic services to adults and children across Luton and Bedfordshire.As the Clinical Lead, you will lead a dynamic and innovative group of team leads, providing effective clinical and professional leadership. The successful candidate will be a highly experienced Dietitian with proven leadership and improvement skills. You will be responsible for the operational management of a community dietetic services which will involve the strategic planning, development and delivery of the service. The service covers a wide range of specialties across adults andpaediatrics including community clinical services, mental health, learning disabilities, diabetes, home enteral tube feeding, prescribing support and public health programmes. You will join a senior team of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) across Luton and Bedfordshire who report into the Head of AHPs. You will have an active role in shaping and transforming dietetic services as we work together to respond to the opportunities and challenges presented in the NHS Long Term plan. As a senior clinical leader, you will deputise for the Head of AHPs, working with key stakeholders as a representative of the Trust. You will have excellent verbal presentation skills and the ability to analyse and report on performance data. A small clinical caseload can be included as part of the job role to maintain clinical expertise in an area of interest.Main duties of the job
To provide effective, senior clinical and professional leadership for Nutrition and Dietetic services within CCS, pan-Bedfordshire. With particular responsibility for facilitating development of clinical care to meet the Trust's strategic objectives. Ensure the provision of high quality, safe, responsive services focused on the needs of patient. To be an expert resource within the organisation with regard to nutrition and dietetics, to advise on relevant national policies or guidelines that may impact on patients, the service or the organisation. To represent the Nutrition and Dietetic service at local and national level, where appropriate.
To provide Deputisation for the Head of Allied health Professionals, working with stakeholders and other organisations as a representative of the Trust.

To be responsible for the strategic planning, development and delivery of all Nutrition and Dietetic Services in Luton and Bedfordshire.
To work with the Dietetic team leads to facilitate recruitment and retention, individual, professional and team development. To be responsible for service growth and development, business planning, clinical governance, risk management and budgetary control with the managed services.
To support clinical teams to deliver high quality patient focused care. To support the student training programme, in conjunction with the University of Hertfordshire and other national educational bodies. To be aware of national and local health agendas and to work with local health service commissioners to ensure that the Nutrition and Dietetic Services are planned and delivered in line with these agendas. To act as a clinical mentor for team leads and junior dietitians and to bring a level of experience and wider thinking to clinical and public health teams to help inform their Dietetic practice. To foster a culture of innovation and forward thinking practice in the Nutrition and Dietetic Service. Analyse and evaluate a range of data to make informed decisions as to how best to operationally manage the service.
To use professional judgement and clinical expertise to analyse highly complex situations and provide advice/support, with reference to evidence based care pathways. To work with the Dietetics Team Leads and the Office Manager to oversee the planning and management of Nutrition and Dietetic services.
Contribute to the delivery of local health agendas. To write an annual business/service plan, that reflects priorities in the trust service plan and is produced collaboratively with the department. To be responsible for delivering it.
To ensure that the Dietetic Team Leads, the Office Manager and the wider service understands the business/service plan and gain commitment to delivering the plan. Work in partnership with patients, carers, their representatives and voluntary sector agencies and commissioners, to identify areas for development and redesign.
Encourage a culture where co-production is embedded in all service development. Complete and submit annual Training Needs Analyses, using information from all staff members Personal Development Plans. Assist in the delivery of local implementation plans for the Healthcare Governance Framework, Health Care Standards, NICE guidelines and National Service Frameworks. Complete assessments to check compliance with governance frameworks and service resilience, such as the CQC Self-Assessment, Business Continuity Plan, Winter Planning Exercise etc. To write comprehensive, evidence based reports, meeting various deadlines. Undertake work activities with regard to Health and Safety legislation and the Trusts policies and procedures. Ensure that there is an effective system for the monitoring of work areas ensuring they are free of hazard and conform to health and safety legislation. Report appropriately all incidents and near misses that may compromise the safety of staff and patients. Ensure that all staff comply with mandatory and other relevant training. To lead the formulation of policies relevant to the Nutrition & Dietetics Service.
To provide change management and leadership to the Nutrition & Dietetics Service. To support the work with the wider CCS Team, Service Leaders and other senior managers to ensure greater staff involvement in the day-to-day running of provider services. To support other senior management colleagues with the modernisation of services. To be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care (if applicable).Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential
