To support the provision of healthcare to patients treated by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board by ensuring that there are effective and efficient clinical governance mechanisms in place, particularly in respect of clinical risk management and patient safety incidents. Under the direction of the Peri-operative Directorate Lead Nurse, ensure all patient safety incident reports are investigated as appropriate in line with UHB processes, with a focus on lessons learnt. To deputise for the Lead/Senior Nurse on occasion as required, ensuring continuation of the department's functions. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Main duties of the jobTo support the Peri-operative Directorate Senior Team in promoting clinical incident reporting and ensuring that all Patient Safety Incident reports are accurately recorded, investigated and actioned in line with UHB Policy. To provide senior managerial support to the Peri-operative Directorate Lead/Senior Nurse in managing and developing Peri-operative Directorate arrangements for clinical governance and specifically clinical risk management and patient safety. To provide support, advice and guidance to all levels of staff across the Peri-operative Directorate to ensure that there are processes in place to systematically assess and prioritise clinical risks with corrective action programmes in place, which comply with the Peri-operative Directorate and UHB's Risk Management strategy and frameworks. To provide general awareness training on Clinical Governance, patient safety and quality to various staff groups at all levels across the Peri-operative Directorate in response to identified need following patient safety incident investigations, external assurance monitoring mechanisms and training needs analysisAbout usCardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 15,000 staff, providing over 100 specialist services.
